Add 3 years and roughly $1.5M to Matt Roy's extension.

So you think that he's looking for 6x6?

Yes. There's no reason why he would expect any less than Gavrikov's AAV. He's a better defenseman that plays the more rare position (RD).

I think term is negotiable, but if he's competing on the open market, he's going to go with the team that gives him the longest deal.

how do you see the contract being constructed if he does 4,200 this season? 4.2 / 4.6 / 4.6 / 6 / 6 / 8 ? Could 5,56 be a thing?

Removed Kapanen from the deal, he’s the most ready prospect in our team and he has legitimate 2C potential. More than Beck etc

shark fans are going to ask for an overpay for Sturm sadly. So who can we send them?

Yeah but we don’t need Sturm as a 4C. We’re not contenders so just remove him from the deal. We already have Jake Evans on that 4C role and he’s doing perfectly fine.

Doubt Hughes pays anything to move Dvorak. He isn’t the type to do so and will wait. Only going to move if the offer is right. We also should keep and pair him up with good wingers on that 3C to start to get him going. And then see at deadline. Newhook Dvorak Anderson

Keep Kapanen. He isn’t Mysak.

What makes you think so highly of Kapanen? Honestly I wasn't expecting much

So he's a 4C that can kill penalties then.

Nicolas Roy is on a great team friendly contract. He's not being traded. Matt Roy, gets a much better contract from a more attractive team.

puck possession should give you a hint wink !! More faceoff wins, and more pass lines stopped = more offensive chances.

Look, Evans is on pace for 27 pts in 82 games this season. He has often been the 3C on this team this year filling in for injuries to Dach, Dvorak, and Newhook. That's good 4C production, but not 3C.

Montreal needs to be adding forwards to get better, promoting a 4C to 3C is not going to help at all.

1st that team needs stability and better wingers. We also need to win puck draw more and keep the possession. Actual puck production won't offer much next season if we can't get the puck from the start, or give better wingers to our centers, or if those centers can't win a draw. It is plain stupid (and I use minimal wording here) to express player quality only by point production or salary cap ... you can do better.

MTL is 8th in the league in faceoff percentage and they are still a bottom team in the league. Evans 51.6% is actually slightly below their team average of 52% so I don't know what you're going on about him for regarding faceoffs. MTL could resign Monahan who is on pace for 56 pts in 82 games and has a FO% of 55% and he could be their 3C... there is absolutely no argument for handing Evans the 3C role next season.

I'm not hating on the player, he plays his role fine... he's just not a 3C... WE can do better.

Disagree on Kapanen having more potential than Beck, but Kapanen is definitely an "under the radar" prospect. Laval will have a shortage of Centers next year (if they don't re-sign Maillet and Stephens). One or both of Beck and Kapanen will being starting in the AHL for sure. My guess is Kapanen, but that's mostly due to him adjusting to North American ice.

Gignac, Kidney, Beck, Mesar, Davidson, Kapanen, I guess we have a deep depth at c

We are not in a buying mode but having Sturm at almost 60%, Evans at 51-52, and Suzuki at 53% will help Dach and Newhook or our 1st round pick center to fight for puck control and offer us higher chance rate. Dvorak is cool at 55 but does not hold offensive treats like Evans can.

Kidney has been playing the wing in Laval, Mesar is considered a RW even though Kitchener uses him at C. Davidson has split between Center and wing this year. Could they play Center? sure, but I think the org will consider them wingers when building their roster. So if either or both Beck or Kapanen make the NHL (as I wrote in my previous comment, I see Kapanen starting in Laval) there's really only Gignac as a "true" Center next year, if Maillet and Stephens are re-signed.
