    1. Why would Ottawa trade Chabot for Karlsson and give up a 2nd?
    2. If we get 9th we are not trading the pick

Thats a lot for 9th overall. Sharks only had to give up a 1 late 1st and 2 mid 2nds to move up to 11th a couple years ago. Remove the 2nd and its more likely

Why would yall trade the pick? You can easily get 2 nhl ready prospects and a late 1st for it. Thats much better for the Pens situation than drafting a guy who wont be ready until after Crosby is gone. And you cant tank if the 2025 1st is gone

I don't understand why everyone think Ottawa will give Chabot or Chychrun plus a 2nd pick for Karlsson.
If sens are taking Karlsson for one those 2, Pens will have to give a 2nd pick.

I could see PIT trading down their 1st for more quantity, including young players, but your demands are way too high. A 1st (in the twenties), Barron (worth between a low 1st/2nd) and Farrell as a throw in would be quite enough.

penguins aren't moving that 1st. If they finish bottom 10 this year, they will be drafting someone who can come in and make an immediate impact.

That players not in this draft. Celebrini will be the only one making an NHL roster next year and everyone else is likely 2-3 years away. Some very good players but not any immediate impact players

Demidov and Silayev aren't coming over

Catton, Lidstrom, Parehka, Dickinson and Yakemchuk all likely go back to the CHL next year

Levshunov is maybe as he hasn't declared to go back to college but I don't see him being ready for the NHL next year.

That's all the top prospects. Who do you think makes the NHL next year?

Don't mean to be a negative voice here, but I have no clue why would the Habs give up so much for a 9th overall? Doesn't make sense.

You're giving up Barron [RFA Rights], Farrell, 2024 1st round pick (WPG); 2025 1st round pick (CGY); and 2025 2nd round pick (PIT) for a 9th?

While Barron isn't a high hit right now, he's still young and showing good signs, he may be added to a trade at Draft or offseason to get a veteran or a 2nd round pick.

Farrell has been more than useful and would alone fetch a 2nd round pick if he needed to be moved.

While the WIN is a late pick, Flames don't look like a top 15 team for next year either so Hugues may want to gamble and wait to see what pans out because it's full of clauses but could turn out better than expected if they can get a 11th to 15 pick. So it doesn't makes sense for Habs to trade so much for a 9th.. From 3 to 5 probably, but not over 5.

And PS from the years in Toronto and the moves Dubas did this year with the Pens.. I will say he isn't that smart to pull any of these off.. He'll do what he's done in Toronto, drive the team to nothing so he can get the easy picks top 3 in two to 3 drafts (Unless Sr Management wake up and fire him from the mess). By that time Crosby, Malkin and Letang will all be pass any chances of going for another cup run.

Hope Management send him packing soon before he destroys the Pens ... He got it easy in Toronto.. Tavares WANTED to play in TO, he drastically overpaid him anyways, he got Matthews of a draft lottery on that good year and got high pick for most of them. But he couldn't figure out the players who'll defend to bring it in.
