Are they actually going to end the drought

Created by: editor9999
Team: 2023-24 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 15, 2024
Published: Mar. 15, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Detroit is free falling and the Islanders do not have an easy schedule coming up. If Buffalo makes the playoffs, UPL should be considered for Vezina. Thompson, Tuch, Skinner, and Cozens have had "down" years offensively, yet UPL is the reason why they are still in the playoff chase. Byram has been a grade addition and when Samuelsson comes back next season, they will have a Top 4 consisting of Dahlin, Byram, Power, and Samuelsson that are all 24 and under. Plus Jokiharju (a pending RFA) will be 25 by the start of next season. They have a matinee game tmrw in Detroit and they have to win. They just destroyed Detroit 7-3 and Detroit still should not have Larkin. Then they have the West Canada + Seattle swing. Seattle and Calgary are beatable, and Vancouver has Casey DeSmith in net (DeSmith has had some rough games in his past few starts). To wrap up March, they go back home to play Ottawa which will be tough, but they should win considering the situation. Then btbs against Jersey and Toronto. Buffalo always seems to play well against Toronto and that Jersey game will be tough considering Jersey will be chasing for a playoff spot. They have 2 home games against Washington and another game against Detroit in April. Their final 2 games are tough as they will be in Florida and Tampa. They probably have to clinch before those 2 games considering Detroit's last 2 games are against Montreal and I do believe Detroit will at the very least start winning some games when Larkin comes back and be in the mix until the very end. If they barely miss the playoffs, I can already imagine the same story from this season happening again next season where they are hyped up before the season, are a .500 team at best by the end of January, spend the rest of the season chasing for a WC spot, and barely missinig.

No, but as long as they prolong Detroit's that's a win.

Nobody is going to make the mistake of hyping this team up anymore (outside of buffalo). The owner is a clown and the average age of the team keeps getting younger. They are what they are. A bunch of question marks that could surprise, but odds are they won't.

I hope they make it, even if they have to deal with Panthers or rangers. That experience will do them wonders.

Not likely. The Sabres are making up room but they've played 2 extra games over the teams they are chasing. It's just really hard to make the math work for them without needing some unusually long winning/losing streaks.

Everything non Sabres related, big or small, gives me immense joy. Don't hate just cause you know I'm right deep down. We had this exact convo numerous times last year.

A supposed fan who just whines & complains & talks $h!t about his own team is nothing more than a troll- it’s sad really

They are playing well but I think they are too far behind. They'd have to go on an insane run

So it's potentially 5 points and likely 3 points.

Not necessarily
No way to predict what’ll happen- not unless u have a crystal ball
It could just as easily stay at 1 point when the 2 games are made up

It could, its just unlikely. It's most likely to be 3.

Funny Sabres fans turning this down when Kovacevic has almost the same numbers as Clifton and he almost has a 70% Dzone start rate compared to Clifton's 58%. Only difference really is hitting and the 2.5 million dollars more Clifton makes. For what $800,000 brings to the 3.3mill brings, I would get rid of the more expensive option.

Can we get rid of Clifton though?
Maybe if we hold a million or so of his Cap?

That's the question, he's overpaid for what he really brings.
