Hanifin and PLD

Created by: Celtics21
Team: 2024-25 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 16, 2024
Published: Mar. 16, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think they are going to sign Lindholm, but let’s say Hanifin wants to come to Boston and Ullmark is willing to waive his NMC for a 5 year contract / stability in a great market with a lot of similarities in team makeup to Boston.

Also … sign Collin Graf please. He’s from the area, played with the junior Bruins, and it’s like getting a free second round pick

I’d rather just sign Lindholm.

If you can trade Ullmark, you can bring in a very good LD or just sign a stop gap who can transition down to 3LD as Lohrei develops

While I don’t like that PLD has quit, I do think the second and the prospect make up for the premium in salary for PLD who probably should have gotten no more than Troy Terry money

Could save 1M on Hanifin. Dubois = No Lindholm.

And Not the biggest fan of PLD.

I have extremely similar thoughts on the offseason. They need a top, let's say top 4, forward (preferably at C) and a 2/3 LD. Get one in UFA and one in the trade market. If Hanifin makes it to UFA, that is #1 priority.

For the same cap hit, I'm willing to bet that I will like mid 20s PLD more than heading into 30 Lindholm over 7 years. Of course, you are also giving up on a more futures based return for Ullmark, but I'll roll that dice if Ullmark would go to LA.

I’d rather pursue Lindholm personally and trade Ullmark for a pick or prospect.

Ullmark doesn’t have a NMC, he has a 16 team NTC and LA is on that list to which he declined to waive it for at the deadline. He’s not waiving it in the summer for LA either

I'd be surprised if any team would want to take a chance on seven years of PLD.

We know two things

1. LA is on his no trade list
2. He didn’t want to spend up to 4 months living in a different city than his family

We do NOT know what he’s willing to do if it comes with a contract extension.

Do people think Boston will give an extension offer when they can? If not, what value will be put on certainty vs choosing his location and spending a year in limbo?

I’d rather hold Ullmark and lose him for nothing when he goes UFA. Much better option

I wouldn’t be. Players with his size and speed generally are in demand. Hes overpaid by about 1.5 to 2m and my guess is LA could convince someone to take him with the right package

Lol, I don't understand these PLD trades.

I'm no fan of his, but you can't say LA would need to pay to move him and then immediately place him as your 1C. LA would come to any trade discussions about PD with the mindset of "Who are your better centers? No one? Then he's being sold as a 1C."

Put him on the Pasta line as a top 6 center. That’s more a reflection on Pasta than PLD and trying to separate scoring

Offering a Vezina award winning goaltender who has statistically been the best goalie in the league for the past 1.75 years when looking at regular and advanced metrics and likely is underpaid for 1 year,

Do you think PLD is not overpaid?

Zeimmer should not be traded

Also doubt kings do this trade.

Then I doubt that the Kings will find someone to take him and get something of value. PLD would be third on my list between Elias Lindholm and Jake DeBrusk

Don’t think we made the move for Hanifin without the thought Jack gets him to stay

Yeah. It is going to be interesting to see how it plays out. I believe that Lindholm is the Bruins priority right now based on the number of times they tried to acquire him
