Canes decline. Bordeleau's a year younger, but has still not cracked the NHL full time. You're not getting Kotkaniemi unless you pay heavily. This isn't that

Laine is not getting traded for a while. Certainly not for that price.

I was gonna say this seems a bit favorable to the sharks lol

What's a fair trade for Kotkaniemi? He seems to be struggling and overpaid and the Canes need cap space. Thought he might be a good capdump reclamation project for the Sharks. Still young with chance to rebound.

He's not struggling and he's not overpaid. He's everything the Canes want him to be. Good chance creator, good defensively. He's the longterm 3C. Staal's going to be dumped if they're that desperate for cap space, not Kotkaniemi. Dumping the 23 year old former 3rd overall pick is beyond brain dead

I was looking at the Kuznetsov trade as a comp. Laine is younger with higher upside but CBJ wouldn't have to retain any salary. You're probably right that CBJ will just keep Laine for a while and see if he rebounds. Similar to Katkaniemi I was looking for capdump reclamation projects for the Sharks. High risk high reward. Sharks may have trouble getting to the cap floor next year. What's a fair trade for Laine this summer, given his struggles?

If Columbus had to trade him for whatever reason, I don't think they are getting much more than what you're offering. It would be a buyer's market. Columbus would almost inevitably be the losers of that deal. It's just not the right time.

Nope, feel free to look at his underlying numbers. Kotkaniemi has been excellent, he just couldn't buy a goal. He's got the production rolling again, and he's looking worth every penny of his deal. But since you only watch Sharks games, you won't know that.

Cool, so you didn't bother to look at the fact he's one of the strongest analytical players in the NHL either? Such a lazy fanbase, but I guess it makes sense when you've only had pain

This post has the Sharks signing UFAs Ghost, Dillon, and Dylan because the Sharks current "D-corpse" needs a complete overhaul. Ghost for PP QB. Not sure any of them woukd actually sign in SJ.. I can't see Grier signing anyone over 30 to an 8 year deal at this point in the rebuild.

Then you'll know he's not been bad. His issue is that he could not score for love not money. He's generating chances like a top 6 player, and there's no doubt he'll be one tears of joy tears of joy
