No team is taking on Knight at 4.5m. Lots better options for the Kings.....including their own goalies

Are they really better options? Or do they play good team defense and most goalies would play well for them?

Montreal would say no to the deal above. Rodrigues is a good player but with the cap crunch FLA will be up against next year they will likely have to move him for close to zero. Harris/Kovacevic and Evans will all have value - especially Kovacevic at the deadline next year where he is a big right shot who earns a very low salary. Evans seems like someone who will have value too if Habs retain - he is a versatile forward who has some offense, kills penalties and can take faceoffs.

There are lots of UFA goalies for under 4m that are better than minor leaguer Knight at 4.5m. Knight might rebound, but no team is gonna risk it. Heck the Panthers don't even trust him.

I don't hate that trade for the habs, rodrigues could be a good middle-six forward until the young guys take over, and moving 2 defensemen off the roster is a must for Montreal this offseason

Portillo is out playing Knight in the AHL. Nothing here for LA to work with.

"The young guys" have been ready to take over for the last 2 year's already , montreal have been trying to trade away some players for 2 years now

Habs get a lot better value selling those pieces separately and they don't need Erod so that's an easy no

How is Evans worth a 3rd? Carrick + Henrique both at 50% retention got a 1st and 5th. It would make sense that Henrique + 50% retention = the 1st
So Carrick a 4th line Center like Evans got a 5th, a 3rd is a little much
The rest is fair enough value

Because he's out best PK so we wouldn't let him go for less

I wouldn't say that all of them are ready. If they were Laval wouldn't be fighting for their lives to make the playoffs right now. Guys like Mesar, Beck, Farrell, Heineman, etc. probably could play in the NHL right now, but saying they're "ready" is a stretch imo

I mean, there's a decent chance MTL let's him walk next off-season. I'm pretty confident MTL would take a 4th for him right now and a 5th at the deadline if nobody offers the 4th before

If that's true, then why give up anything of value for an expensive goalie?
