massively lopsided in the flames favor; start small, then its more realistic

Norris would be a good add, but I would have to believe he’s worth more than that.

Yeah. OTT should be hoping to move Norris for whatever they can get before his situation gets into cap dump territory, especially before that M-NTC kicks in in a couple years. And it seems like at least some OTT fans are on board with that idea. Definitely high risk for CGY, but could pay off if he can get healthy and stay healthy AND get back to playing well. Such a shame this keeps happening to him. Hopefully he can get healthy.

I can appreciate the thinking that was put into this, but a lot of it just isn't there. Ottawa is absolutely not in a position to be trading their 2025 1st, and based on Staios' whole "patience" thing, it seems pretty much all but guaranteed not to happen. Norris, idk, I just wouldn't do it. and Korpisalo, his buyout is really reasonable, the Sens can definitely afford to go that route rather than spending an entire 1st on it. I wouldn't do two 1sts and a 2nd alone to dump Korpisalo and get Markstrom and Mangiapane, and Norris is absolutely not at a "negative value" stage yet

You make some fair points... except no one is suggesting Norris has negative value, Mangiapane is a solid 2nd line winger and I imagine he'd be willing to re-sign.

my “Norris doesn’t have negative value” point was about how I wouldn’t do the deal without Norris, so the only way it’d make sense *with* him would be if he had negative value, which we all agree that he doesn’t

There was a reason why I broke it up like I did, even stated it in the description. While you might not agree with the Sens paying to dump Korpi, or giving up a 1st for Markstrom... if you remove those parts, it's Mangiapane for Norris.

It's Korpi that has negative value and with 4 years left, it is a lot of negative value IMO.

Ottawa is giving up a top 6C (who sure has struggled due to injury, but is still valuable), 2 likely high 1sts, a previous first and a goalie one season removed from a good season for a middle six expiring UFA and a better goalie. That's an awful lot out for the potential of an improved situation in net.

Norris is too much risk. He's injured as often as he's in the lineup. Maybe if his AAV was lower or his contract shorter but 6 more years at virtually 8 mil per is just too much for a player who's hurt that often.

Calgary won't be doing the Korpisalo trade either. They have no need for him.
