Buffalo trading Tage Thompson is the definition of "unrealistic."

McDonagh is still the better defenseman, but if our left side next year is Werenski, Provorov, McDonagh, we're blocking Mateychuk from playing time.

We're probably running it back with minor changes on defense next year and hoping Jiricek and Mateychuk can be better contributors than Peeke/Boqvist and Bean.

Gudbranson's an assistant captain, so his internal value is higher than his trade value. He's probably not going anywhere.

That Sabres trade is anything but “realistic”

He's having a great season. He's miles better than Gudbranson. Not sure why NSH is adding a better pick there. I'm sure McDonagh declines that trade anyway. TB originally gave him the choice of NSH or CBJ, and he waived his NTC for NSH.

That BUF trade isn't realistic. Neither is Carrier signing for just $1M.

Gudbranson may be an overpaid third pair guy, but he’s actually an effective third pair guy.

I’d take his smaller cap hit.

Buffalo has all the prospects in the world. Picks can help a deal, but the main pieces would need to be roster players.
