I was so nervous about what a Benoit extension would look like, in fact I was convinced it would be over 1.5m and was ready to move on. 3 years at 1.35m is an absolute slam dunk and I couldn't not be happier to have him around for another 3 years. Absolutely fantastic signing by Tre

I dont really buy any of the "Wild are open to trading Rossi" crap, but if for whatever reason it does turn out to be true, then he makes a ton of sense for the Leafs and would be the perfect long term 2C candidate

Not really sure if there'd be a deal to be had there for the Leafs. Feel like they'd be looking for a Mittelstadt for Byram or Gauthier for Drysdale (+) type deal.

Love Benoit. I was afraid he’d pull a dubas and go for 1 year and let him walk after he finds a new shiny toy. Glad he opted for 3 years

I would've been pissed if it was up around $2m like it was somewhat speculated. He's a bottom of the lineup RFA. It's a fair deal for both.

I knew it would be between 950k-1.5m as he's not a big point getter nor a RD.

If he works on his shot though he could really make this a steal

Sammy is entertaining but he's all over the place. When the hockey gods are on his side he makes crazy athletic saves and seems great, when they are not on his side he gets caught out of position and allows soft goals. Sometimes he just lets in horrible goals and that always happens at the worst do times. A steady and poised goalie is what a wise man will take 100 out of 100 times. Sammy will be on the bench for the playoffs. Or Keefe should be fired

Of the 2 rn Sammy's the guy especially after Woll's slow March.

He's been steady Sammy as of late with now a 20-6-7 record with 2 shutouts. He's the game 1 starter. Against Buffalo that played better than us showed it as he robbed em left and right.

Put this into perspective before waivers 5-2-6 3.44 GAA, 0.863 SV and since coming back 15-4-1 2.43GAA and a 0.914SV

And if we compare the 2 last 7 starts

Woll

3-4

3.03 GAA and a 0.893 SV

Samsonov

5-1-1

2.27 GAA and a 0.928 SV

If Keefe starts Woll over Sammy he's nuts especially if they face Boston lul.

As of right now, Sammy should be the starter for game 1....but as we've seen, nothing is guaranteed. Sammy was inconsistent in Washington and that's what he's been here in Toronto.

He's playing well now and it's good to see him having this success however in 3 weeks time, he could cool down and that's the nightmare the organization and fans dread.

Too bad the playoffs are not starting tonight because this is the play needed from Leafs goaltenders in playoff games.

True but at the same time Sammy didnt have the kind of turnaround we saw

Basically the guy we saw last year who was pretty good has returned

Like he was dead last in saves in the NHL and while he's still under a 0.900 now if he keeps up this play he could finish with a 0.920sv

Unless he has a dramatic fall off hes for sure the game 1 guy

But would be surprised if that happened as so far so good. Seems to have figured it out since the waive

He's a lucky goalie, he's exciting but he's way too chaotic.

I dont know where your getting that rn lul

As I said before he's been good his past 10 and in this game that last save was really good.

Its got nothing to do with luck its all him rn and the team in front helping when needed

Its when hes swimming he's bad

So far nothing has gone past him and that last save was really good.

His huge save, he was flopping all over the place. It looks amazing when it works but when it doesn't look good it really doesn't look good. Throw in the fact that you absolutely know he's going to let in more than one stinker and those types of goalies do not succeed in the playoffs. Woll almost never looks bad, he doesn't make as many 10 bell saves as Samsonov but I think that's because Woll is so much more calm in the crease and makes things look easier. Woll's been lights out in 2 of the last 3 starts and his "bad" game the team hung him out to dry. Of course you'll just take small sample sizes stats to justify your opinion and ignore every else. And Samsonov certainly did help me with that goal against
