Pass on both of those trades. Kuemper will be fine next season once the Caps team is good and he has a restart.

Bear is also good. Sucks he's in the program but he's too good to pay to trade away.

I should rephrase: I'm okay with trading either, I'm not okay trading away very important 2nd round picks for someone to take them.

Do you think Chicago didn’t see the media release yesterday? Nobody is trading for a player who literally just entered the player’s assistance program.

The people on this site never fail to amaze.

Kuzy went into the program twice. Was literally traded like a week after he got out of it the 2nd time.

There in lies the difference, one guy is going in, the other coming out… what if the gut going in can not recover from his demons? Additionally, Carolina is taking a low cost gamble that a proven veteran with a history of playoff success can push them over the top. Bear is a third pair, depth d-man who isn’t really a difference maker, so why take the chance?

Bear is a 2nd pair guy. But yeah if he doesn't come out, obviously no one would trade for him. Think the assumption here is he does come out.

I'm sure Chicago, along with the everyone else, saw the media release yesterday. This is all in the offseason, and I hope, highly doubt, that he'll be in the program for three months lol

He's still youngish and can be a good 2nd/3rd pair guy in the right system. It's only one year so if it doesn't work out, no biggie. But I still think there's a little more there with him than we've seen. And the Hawks get a pick upgrade out of it in this scenario

The Russian dude is a STUD. I would be shocked if he doesn't steal the starting role

In or out of the program, the Hawks accept that trade all day every day. If Bear can't play, so what. Hawks have plenty of cap space.

100% sure they don't want to get tied for Kuemper for 3 years while they can just bury Petersen to AHL and get rid of him next summer when his contract ends. The team is performing well above expected, but they're not in "win now" mode, and even if they would be, Kuemper ain't the answer. They can just go with Ersson and a lot cheaper veteran/Kolosov next season.

Its going to be Ersson and Fedetov. With the ladder most likely as the starter

Oh yeah missed that he got his KHL contract terminated. Then most likely Kolosov is going to AHL and Fedotov will be up with Ersson.

I would assume Fedotov will be the clear cut starter if he plays like he did in Russia

I'd take a 2nd to take Bear's contract.
