The deal only happens if you let us throw in Florian as well. I don’t want these 2 separated now that they are together

Markstrom lost at least 1/3rd but probably half of his value by them not trading him this season I don't know what flames fans expect to get for him especially after his terrible play the last month

How are his numbers "below average". Hes 45th among dmen in relative xgf% and above 50 percent on a bottom third team.

That is a completely baseless take. Also terrible play? Did you expect his SV% to go up after they traded away Hanifin and Tanev?

lmfao how is that a baseless take one year older one less playoff run no idea how hes gonna keep hold up. No but his GSAA has tanked like 25% in a month. Calgary's ownership dropped the ball holding onto him

Also I love how your argument is a sample size of 3 games, where one of them he was injured. Should Ownership have nixed the trade? No, but does holding on to him hurt us? Also no. Flames are more than fine with letting him mentor Wolf next year if he stays

The Markstrom Value is that low because of 3 factors :
-it isnt the TDL anymore
-Calgary made it clear they were not retaining money
-He is one year older than the previous offer

yep 3 game sample size hasn't had a save% over .900 in double that. Enjoy having him mentor wolf when no one offers anything good anymore so they can waste his career as well maybe they'll finally be able to rebuild in 2030 when all they're done paying kadri and huberdeau almost 20m or maybe not since everyone wants to leave calgary unless its an extreme overpay anyway

He plays vs the lowest comp and hes a defenceman, xGF% isnt important

Sv% does not mean a goalie is playing bad. It means the puck went in the net in X amount of shots. He played well vs Pittsburgh and Seattle, having a positive GSAx in both games. He had rough nights on the Florida road trip, but he also got hurt in one of those games. Then after coming back he played ok but not great. Again though, do you genuinely think losing 2 high quality defensemen is going to make his job easier? He's still sitting 2nd in the league in GSAx with +30.85.

$6M mentor

That's fine, Calgary's not stressing for cap. Varlomov was a 5M mentor, Rinne was a 7M mentor.
