Description
What I would give to get Killorn and Strome off this roster, but we'll worry about dumping them or buying them out when their contracts have less time on them, or when the cap is higher and they're easier to move.

A lot of the kids will have to take short bridge deals to make the cap work, but then again, you don't lock everyone up to 8 year deals the same year.

1.
ANA
  1. Colton, Ross
Additional Details:
Salary out transaction for Landeskogs return. Lundestrom replaced Colton, Jones replaces Trenin.
COL
  1. Jones, Max [RFA Rights]
  2. Lundeström, Isac [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Lundestrom and Jones haven't put up great years, but they are familiar with Coloardos system, fast skaters, Jones hits and Lundestrom plays well in transition. Figuring you can get both of them under contract for ~2.5 million combined (1.5 x2-3 for Lundestrom, 1x2 for Jones)
2.
ANA
  1. Hronek, Filip [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Hearing rumors that Hronek rejected Vancouver's extension at 6.5x8, guessing he wants 8+ and that won't jive with their star D and captain making less.

While it isn't what they paid for him, keep in mind this is for basically his signing rights. Yes, they could QO him for a year, but this gets a good cost controlled winger and a 1st to try chasing another RHD with, maybe they throw the savings at Roy or Pesche.
VAN
  1. Vatrano, Frank
  2. 2024 1st round pick (EDM)
3.
ANA
Carolina is a stand in, he played there previously and did well.

He's just cheap depth for whoever.
    CAR
    1. McGinn, Brock ($1,325,000 retained)
    Additional Details:
Guy doesn't fit Anaheims system at all, retain 50% and send him out for whatever.
    4.
    ANA
    1. 2024 7th round pick (DET)
    Additional Details:
Detroit's a stand in for one of the 4 teams on his trade list, but he's from there and could be a ghost replacement for a couple seasons.
    DET
    1. Fowler, Cam ($2,000,000 retained)
    Additional Details:
Dude, just go chase a cup with the hometown team or something, I know you're better than this season, maybe the system just doesn't work with you, but we can't have the kids playing their off side to accommodate you anymore.

Vancouver isn't moving him for less than what we paid for. with the team being as good as they are they wouldn't move who would be the top RHD available for futures and winger.

You got most of the value out of him which was the term on his contract, this is assuming Vancouver ISNT willing to meet his salary demands. It's that or QO him and he walks in a year for nothing.

No. It's for his signing rights, the fact that you're getting a 30 goal scorer at 3.6 and a 1st is already too much in my opinion.

He's got a 4 team trade list, I rather doubt Arizonas on it, but I suppose we could pull the old Ryan McDonaugh move.

Vatrano has one year left and a late first. Not gonna cut it. They'll land on somewhere in the 7s before trading for this package. It would get beat imo.

Ducks still have Helleson and Warren so I'd say Luneau isn't too much to ask for on top.

Luneau is our top RHD prospect, that is too much of an ask. You can have Helleson if it gets the deal done.

And assuming they'll land somewhere in the 7s relies on Hronek being willing to sign in the 7s.

Rather have one year of Hronek on a QO than one year of Vatrano and a late first.

Canucks have leverage with Hronek too. He can't walk and he'd be dumb not to sign for $7M+ after his career year.

Scoring wingers don't hold that much value right now look at what Guentzel and Toffoli went for. He's only got a year left on his deal and is much older than Hronek. Hronek only has 6 less points than him as a Dman. The value in trading for Hronek from Vancouver was getting a young Right shot D to play with Hughes longterm they aren't going to move him for a minor salary dispute, especially for a 30 year old winger with a year left and a 1st in the 20s in not a deep draft, Hronek would easily be the best RHD on the market and most teams would be lining up for his services, he would be an upgrade in most teams top 4, the value just isn't here for Vancouver even in the scrieno you have laid out

The major problem with the trade with the Avs as I see it is that you're being overly optimistic on what Jones and Lundestrom sign for (before looking at anything else that is). They'll likely be hoping for a raise or at least similar money, and are already on just over 3 mil combined. That means there is no cap benefit for the Avs in reality (just under 1 mil has little effect on the addition of Landy's cap hit). Whoever gets moved by the Avs really needs to be moved for prospects or picks no cap or at least very little in return.

Neither do signing rights that you can't afford/won't the salary demands for. At that point, its best available offer or nothing, and while he might be the best avaliable, the others are UFA's and no slouches either in Roy and Pesche. If Hronek is going to demand premium UFA money on his contract, he's not going to return huge value in a trade.

As to Guenzel, minimal retention, trade protection, and Dubas waiting too long drove the price down. If Dubas hadn't waited until everyone else had already made their moves, and had been willing to eat more salary, his return would have been higher. He got taken for a ride.

Well, that's your opinion, make sure to email Hronek's agent and tell him that he should totally sign for under $60 million. We can wait a year to chase him as a UFA.

The deals they are on now we're deals that they we're still expected to take steps forward on when they signed them, and they kind of haven't. (Jones just hasn't really done anything, and Lundestrom lost a lot of time to his achiles) I don't think minor pay cuts on their current deals is out of the question for short term deals. Figured the focus would be on NHL level players who can play the position, and as pointed out, Jones and Lundestrom would be replacing Trenin and Colton, assuming you can get them both at 2.5, that's a 3.2 million delta.

Part of the rub here is that if Colorado has to shed salary, they're not going to get back as high a pick as they put into Colton. I'd pitch the Boston 2nd at him or a prospect within reason, but there's not a prospect who's capable of stepping into 3C that would be on the table. Groulx, Gawdin, Nestrenko sure, but they are at best 4C, Gaucher would be off limits.

But this issue he isn't a signing right he is an RFA He's not going to take his Q/O and walk it just doesn't happen unless the relationship deteriorates which there has been no indication of that with Hronek, even if he did having him as a one year rental is worth more to Vancouver than a year of Vatranto and late first in a bad draft

Even so, the Avs would be looking for no cap back on whoever they have to move be it Colton, Girard, Manson or Lehkonen (it's likely to be one of those 4 imo), and bearing in mind that neither of the players in question have excelled, the Avs would be more likely to be filling out the bottom of the line up with the internal options like Kovalenko, Pavel, Foudy and possibly using the money to re-sign one or more of Duhaime, Trenin and Walker.

He's an RFA a year removed from UFA and the cap is jumping this year and next, he wouldn't be the first player who elected for a short term deal to bet on himself in order to go for a bigger pay day once the cap rose. He wouldn't even be the first RFA who refused to sign long term for that reason in the last couple years.

So yeah, you can own rental him, that's fine, Anaheim can afford to wait.

If we wanna go comps for shorter term RFAs, we can look at Vince Dunn. I'd happily sign Hronek to four years and not have him into his mid 30s lol

Money changes a lot of things for professional athletes, and Anaheim has it, and the young pieces that will make them a competitor sooner rather than later. People didn't think Dougie Hamilton would sign in New Jersey either.

He's not going to walk away from a contender for 8mil when we are likely willing to go up to at least 7.5 with him the rest of the money he can easily get back on endorsements
