I'll be happy if they can break the losing streak before the season ends and win more then one playoff game... 🤣

This team is a fraud and never was as good as their record, theres something wrong with this group, SOME good players but as a collective they just don't have it, a few too many jobbers in the bottom six and a meh defense doesn't help either.

Edit: You forgot to sign Toffoli.

I don't know if I go so far as to call them a fraud.

Coming into the season, I said they would be better than people would think because they can roll three lines. That remains true. And they have been better then people think.

The timing of this skid is concerning for sure. But they have a roster that can compete with the big boys of the west imo. Just have to loosen up and play. The game last night they looked so tight, almost questioning themselves.

Bowness needs to shake it up. Mental reset Samsonov style.

Guys like Monahan (that get traded for a 1st round pick), don't sign for $2M × 2. More like $5M+.

I don’t think any player would want to sign with Winnipeg, unless they are from there

Monahan's injury history I have to think will be a factor in what he gets.

Totally agree, $2 million is lowball; but with some real term, could see $3.5-4 million.

They have too many perimeter players and when the going gets tough they wilt under pressure, its happened before many a time with this group.

If you can open that theres some interesting numbers in that article, they've been pretty bad for awhile now, beating the weaker teams like Anaheim and Columbus has masked their slide a bit.

Sure they can roll three lines but their 3rd line can't score to save its life, they were productive early in the season which was a major part of their early on success but after a third of the way in they went pretty cold. Lowry and Appleton went on like a 20 game drought without a goal, Nino went like 15 games. The depth on the Jets is so inconsistent offensively, this season it looked like the best depth they'd had since the 17-18 season but again it just went back to what its been in recent years, unproductive time wasters.

Their special teams aren't very good which is really hurting them, their PK is "okay" at best and their PP is awful.

Bones is a part of the issue, he's very Maurice like, won't split up 55&81 and won't touch the Lowry line which is exactly the same as Maurice. It also seems like he lets Hellebuyck decide how much he's gonna play which is a detriment to the team and Helle, Maurice did the same thing, someone needs to rein in Hellebuyck's ego.

Lastly does the Jets defense look like one of a true contender? I don't see it, some good depth for sure but DeMelo on the top pair is really weak and not convinced Dillon-Pionk is a 2nd pair of a cup winner either.

      Well this is insightful!

I have to agree that they lack a player that will go into the dirty areas...... very reliant on the ability to throw the puck around in hopes of a defensive breakdown.
But they are awefully good at that.

I have always been good with the blueline honestly outside of Schmidt. What they lack is a secondary offensive D beyond Morrisey.... which I think is supposed to be Poink, but he has settled into a great 2-way player.

Lots to think about there. Almost like you described my Leafs lol

      MTL will
They'd love to bring him back at that on 1-2 year term
He's great for our youths development and if we're not contending we can maybe get a third 1st round pick for him down the road before he's a pending UFA(but we should be contending)
