depends on where the pick ends up

if its like 9 and demidov, lindstrom, catton, and eiserman are all gone, sure

Winnipeg would be able to add a young great d-man, whether its a parhek or buium

Anywhere between 6 and 9 depending on lottery and end of season

There's just no incentive for Winnipeg to take a step backwards and trade a prospect that looks to be very close to NHL ready for a prospect that will be 2 or 3 years away at best.

Depends who it is though

Could be Lindstrom that is likely NHL effective in 2 years

But I get why WPG declines, y’all got a future elite player in your hands

Yeah, but it's still a crap shoot. Winnipeg takes all the risk by hoping they can break even and draft a player as good as McGroarty appears to be. There's just no reason for Winnipeg to do that without fair compensation.

Understandable

If it were guaranteed Lindstrom, would you do it?

That would be tough. It's still a risk and Lindstrom has an injury history and would still be a couple years away. I think I'd still stay with McGroarty.

Except that they can be proactive to their rebuild, the Jets aren't going to be competitive forever and may not be competitive in 2 years, getting a kick start on your rebuild by getting a better player now kind of make sense cause that would mean he would be ready to step in when Scheifele is 33 or 34 allowing for a smoother transition. Sur e you might be giving up a good prospect who is NHL ready now but you also gain a better prospect down the line when you are starting g to think about transitioning to the rebuild. That's the difference between nearsighted fans and long-term visionary GM's, you only think about what is best for the team right now and a good GM knows he also has to look at what is better long-term
