Canes need good wingers more than they need good defensemen - for this reason Canes pass.

Canes need scoring. It's why Necas has only been on the table for Tkachuk and Pettersson. You're not going to get him for a D man when Carolina have options in-house. This doesn't work as a base

Was thinking with Pesce and Chatfield being UFAs and Burns being 39 that they’d potentially be interested in Hronek, but I guess I’m wrong. Doubt the Canucks have anything else they can offer that would make sense for Necas so that ends my dream of him and Pettersson on a line together

Morrow's about to sign his ELC, so they already have a replacement for Pesce. Chatfield's replacement could be a league minumum free agent and be an upgrade, he's shocking.

Hronek might be of interest, but not at the expense of Necas. The biggest problem would be the contract he wants, and from what I have heard, it sounds like he is wanting more than what Q. Hughes is making, which is just not worth it.

I dont see the Leafs moving Lilgegren for futures. they need him now.

canucks need hronek or a top rd - as its very thin now. tanev on a short deal helps- but he shouldnt be counted on as top pairing.

So basically send him to Boston pre free agency to lock in the salary slot so they can do other things. It’s a different strategy than what happened with Severson because Columbus added the 8th year to make it more attractive to him. Dont see Boston doing that.

Could see a marginal pick or a minimum player like Lauko, but it is unprecedented and by that time, Boston should know if he’s coming or not,

I think the main purpose of trading for his rights ahead of free agency would be to get him signed before he hits the market so that other teams are entirely out of the picture

Yeah, but the primary time that was done recently it was by adding an 8th year, which I don’t think is a consideration here.

I could see it happen to bring certainty to their free agent plan.
