You're being very optimistic with those cap dumps. JGP costs atleast a 2nd. Retention does nothing for Chicago.

Hawks pass on that. Might be willing to take him but it would cost more than that. I think Lee fits better as a dump to CHI

I'm going to disagree w/ my Hawks cronies above. I think the Hawks accept. JGP fills the middle 6 C hole the Hawks currently have in their lineup.

Two years left on a contract and after retention about $4M in salary? Kyle Davidson is salivating!!!

Yeah I know. But the Hawks do need another middle 6 C for next season. AA isn't the guy. After they re-sign Vlasic and Reichel and whatever other RFA's get signed, Hawks still need to spend another 6 to 8 million to hit the cap floor. Some of that gets spent on another vet RD. But the rest is probably on a free agent C. So sign a free agent for $4m or take on JGP and get a couple of picks out of it. Top 6 looks something like this:
Hall/Bedard/Kurashev
Reichel/Pageau/AA
Or Dickinson as the 2C and Pageau as the 3C. It's not like JGP is a useless player. Good at the dot, kills penalties. He's still a capable NHL center - just overpaid. I could be totally off here but it just seems like a good fit.

Unless of course the Hawks land Celebrini!

Possibly, though he probably starts further down the line. I think they'll try to find a way to hold onto Jo if they can but he may now have priced himself out of Colorado. A lot will depend on what cut he'll take to stay playing with Nate.

Hall should have an asterisk. He's only LW1 until he breaks apart again. lol
