to me this is really the only deal that makes any sense

Created by: Borocop
Team: 2024-25 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 12, 2024
Published: Apr. 12, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Before you yell at me, this would be a deal way more complicated than just buying a rental, an assortment of pieces that cumulatively add up to a certain point of value won't cut it. It has to make actual sense for both teams to consider doing this.

For the sens, the rationale is that they get a piece they can add to their younger core at a position they have almost nothing at who can play a significant role for them down the line.

For the devils, the rationale is that Tkachuk brings more than enough value to compensate for going from Hamilton-Nemec-Marino to Hamilton-Casey-Marino and opens their cup contending window up as a result.

I dont care about the perceived value of the players, there needs to be logical rationale behind the move for both sides so dont tell me Nemec is more valuable than Thacuk or vice-versa, let me know if my rationale makes sense or not as to why both sides would or would not do this based on that.

Same here. This fits the Sens needs and direction. Otherwise I just don’t see it.

It’s the devils that want Tkachuk so badly , not the Sens needing to move him.

This is a hilarious convo

I think the amount of sense it makes is easily higher than the likelyhood of it happening.

If you’re the devils and you make an offer that it doesn’t hurt you to part with , then you did not offer enough for Brady.

You just didn’t

100% . The odds of Brady being moved are low

I just don’t get this. Like it’s other teams that are trying to pry Brady from Ottawa.

Like for example if they have to move him and he refuses to report then maybe you’re like I’ll take Kyrou and a 2nd .

But as is , other teams trying to pry him needs to give ottawa an offer they can’t refuse.

Mercer, Casey/Marino and a 1st isn’t an offer they can’t refuse from a quality perspective.

What is with the Brady to NJD push anyway? Maybe it's not just a good fit? I'm not sure who started it on either side.

Brady isn't Matthew. Brady isn't someone I would blow up a ton of the youth for, sorry. He's a really, really nice player, but the Devils are better setup with a depth of talent than to move a top two-way defenseman in Nemec.

i think mike rupps comments on NHL network really got the ball rolling. Totally fair though, I am a big Nemec fan

Brady is a slightly less skilled (Matthew is a better playmaker) but way more gritty version of Matthew. Brady hits more , cannot be moved from the front of the net and tips goals in front and out muscles ppl for rebounds .

This is way more valuable in the playoffs than even what Matthew brings .

A talking head on NHL network said it ought to happen. There is no news here. Just nothing else to talk about.

Indeed. I am trying to limit myself to one visit to Tankathon per day. But my browser keeps thinking I want more.

If only Brady could make the playoffs to see that.

"slightly less skilled" is a weird way to describe an 80 point gap in the last 3 years.

Dawson Mercer (age 19-20-21) is as close to brady tkachuk in points over the last 3 years than Brady is to Matthew.

Matthew is 2 years older . Ages 21 to 24 is way different than ages 23 to 26 lmao.

Calgary was also a way better team than ottawa ever was and so is Florida .

There's the same age gap between Mercer and Brady as there is Brady and Matthew. Except mercer is earlier in the development curve so the age gap actually means more in this case

Now, before you get it twisted, I am not saying mercer is as good as brady or that he will be.

I am saying Brady is lightyears behind Matthew.

I just looked at all the analytics from this season.

Mercer = okay to very meh
Holtz = Goddamn awful everywhere my god the next Wahlstrom
Marino = very meh

Tkachuk has better analytics than Hischier at both ends this year . It’s not massive but Tkachuk beats him slightly at both ends

who cares? Tkachuk is what he is and hes not what hes not. If people dont want to trade nemec for him then theyre entitled to say they wont just as were entitled to say we wont trade Tkahuck for anything but Nemec

If your analysis of players is based on 1 year of play you'd be a very easy GM to fleece.

Not at all. But you cannot ignore this year . If you don’t consider it you’re dumb
