Bad deal for Florida

How?

They get a top 4 defender that they need, they get a top prospect, a cheap reliable backup goalie that could develop into a good starter after Bobrovsky leaves, and 2 picks… for a goalie that’s being paid $4.5M to play into the AHL and a young centre who’s regressed more than he’s progressed.

Seems pretty good for Florida, especially since they likely gain cap space outta this deal too.

Lundell can be much better than that. He plays on the third line. In Montreal he could be a two-way second center and be a big part of our PK.

DSL for my english lol

gotta sell high, I doubt he produces like this again, and he's on a good contract for what he brings, but it'll be expired before the habs become a playoff threat, and he's likely replaced by Hutson by then end of his deal if he stays

Lundell has by far the most value in this trade. Followed by Knight and Meser who are probably relatively close in value right now. Then the 1st, then 2nd, then Matheson, then Primeau.

Knight is playing very well in the AHL according to all sources, and calling Lundell regressing because he hasn't scored as much as his rookie season is just dumb.

Matheson isn't worth much, especially since identical players in Barrie and Gostisbehere are both free this summer.

MTL Declines it hurts our Return on the Conditional CGY Pick basically assuring its a later pick worth little
Im alright with trading Matheson just not to a team that screws us over by helping
IF Anything we'd want to trade Matheson to a Division Rival like TBL to make sure FLA takes some lumps next year
That said TBL has 10m to sign 9 players including Stamkos so i doubt there's a fit there and i dont know who FLA's next biggest Rival is
Either way we want to hurt FLA not help them next year, after next year it doesnt really matter
