Stamkos isn't bringing a cup to Pittsburh, Pittsburgh is washed up. They need to be looking at a major rebuild sooner rather than later.

Exactly this...Devils shouldn't be paying more for a goalie that makes far more and is marginally better if at all... We would just beat PIT's offer.

I disagree. If we have $2.5 million to spend on a bottom-6 forward I'd rather spend it on three or four seasons of known quantity and proven 27-year-old Blake Lizotte than on one season of 33-year-old Reilly Smith, who might not fit us any better than he fit the Penguins.

Buying out kk and getting a cheaper 3ld would be better for the canes than overpaying Graves for another 5 seasons

I was thinking more along the lines of bumping Laf down to the 4th line and putting Smith with PLD. Arvy-PLD-Smith I believe would be better than Arvy-PLD-Laf.

Coming from a wings fan...how many years is it now that the wings have missed the playoffs...?

Not sure Wings fans should be the ones talking about other organizations

But Laffy is already there because Arvy's natural position is RW.

I'd rather have (x?) -- DuBois -- Arvidsson and (x?) -- Lizotte -- Laferriere than Smith -- DuBois -- Arvidsson and (x?) -- (x?) -- Laferriere.

As against that, it is probably going to be easier to find two productive fourth-liners than it will be to find a productive third-liner unless the team is willing to take the chance that Alex Turcotte can be DuBois' LW.

I was thinking more like:
Smith-PLD-Arvy
Moore-Danault-Fiala
Someone-Lizzo-Laf

I think PLD needs a responsible defensive player on his line cause the guy plays little to no defense. Laf is a -13 and PLD is a -9 the next closest guy is Clarke with a -6 but has only played 16 games this season.

The Kings can't afford another seven-figure, bottom-six forward.

They're already on the hook for Talbot's $1M bonus next season, and Byfield's carry over bonus to next season could be as high as $942,500. After factoring in Byfield's extension and the need for a starting goaltender, there's no room for someone like Smith at $2.5M. I don't think Grundstrom will be back, and I think even Lizotte is a question mark because his performance has earned him a raise.

We'll very likely see all of Alex Laferriere, Akil Thomas, and Alex Turcotte in the starting lineup next season. Guys like ****emo and Helenius will be given a long look as well.

The only trade here worth even considering is the NJ one.
If you take out the 2nd and the 5th round picks, maybe there is something there both fan bases can agree on.

Not trading Graves for Kotkaniemi. CAR can come talk to us in 2 years when we officially hit rock bottom and decide to rebuild about the Kotkaniemi contract. They can include a 1st and a good prospect and we'll take that cap hit off their hands then. But it's not today.

PIT doesn't want Gustavsson back. FFS they knew he wasn't as good as the goalies they have in the system now which is why they moved him out to begin with. They kept their guy, it's Blom and they will ride with it knowing they got another stud goalie in the wings behind him as well.

LA trade works for no one. LA would rather spend the cap on Roy. The penguins don't really get anything of value while retaining on cap and it costing them a pick. Hard pass.

i rather not trade for either. Pettersson on NJ does nothing he isnt a thumper and that what the Devils lack PHYSICALITY. Bahl is still developing and luke is jsut a mess in his own zone, but hey you and the rest of the clown in NJ just hate on Bahl. i rather Dillon or Hague over Pettersson BOTH ARE THUMPERS

NJDs problem hasn’t been not enough thumpers. We had 2 on the blueline in Smith and Bahl. The problem was that those 2 couldn’t make an accurate breakout pass to save their lives.

Marcus Pettersson is elite defensively. Who gives a **** if he doesn’t hit
