Andrew Dubas fixed penguins

Team: 2024-25 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 18, 2024
Published: Apr. 18, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
FIRST THING IS FIRING TODD REIRDEN AND MIKE SULLIVAN
Edit** added eller and a pick to the wings trade, and removed the second they would give**

Tried to make it as realistic in value as I could, but while also making major changes. The Jarry trade is assuming Chychrun wants out of Ottawa as previously stated. I tried to sign the agents for more than market value. And the Karlsson deal is assuming EDM wants the cap space from Campbell and will pay to get rid of him. Karlsson said in the past he would want to go to EDM, and I think his playstyle would mesh well.
Chychrun might have to switch sides if we get injured, and we might have to trade for some defensive depth. Yager is also kinda close so we could call him up if needed.

Funny how the consensus on this site was that Garland was a cap dump before

EDM trade is by far the worst. EDM could just buy out Campbell and be far better than making this deal. Copp is crap and Rakell in his worst season still substantially outperformed him so that trade is trash for PIT.

Don't see any reason for the oilers to give up their number 1 defenseman who got more points than Karlsson this year with his enormous contract when they have already screwed themselves with nurse's contract. the only positive is giving up Campbell's contract but with a trade like that I would much rather buy out Campbell or package Campbell with prospects and picks instead of this trade. Also McLeod slots into the Oilers style of play very nicely with his fast skating and reasonable contract.

I suppose it would be more fair for Ekholm than Bouchard then, but Ken Holland does like chasing big names and overpaying.. Nurse's contract isn't really a concern here though they made that bed for themselves. I have quite a bit of cap space so I could retain too.

    Ekholm isn't going anywhere either.

Remove Bouchard, McLeod and Acciari, add Evander Kane. Then Edmonton at least answers the phone.

Man I'm not even too sure how much better EK is than Ekholm or Bouch right now alone. Like is he a bit better, yeah sure but not by that much lol

Bouchard for sure has more value than Karlsson, not only his value as a player but age and cap hit make him much, much more valuable.

Ekholm is the better 2-way player, which is critical for the Oilers roster. Since arriving in Edmonton Ekholm has a league-leading +60 goal differential at 5v5. I wouldn't trade him for Karlsson 1-for-1 either.

Dismissing coaches is something to do tomorrow. I noticed Sullivan spoke to the media during locker clean out today. I would expect something from Dubas after he makes the decision to fire Sullivan and/or Reirden. Reirden should be all but gone at this point.

Never really understood that. I think it was something to do with length and term right?

Like your approach. Values seem fair (for the most part) which is refreshing, but as with Vancouver, not sure there is much interest in moving Garland.

Yes I think that's right, but I also think it was more the cap hit was seen as an issue. He was viewed as a 3rd line winger vs. a top 9 play driving winger.
