Description
I read that the team wishes to start building for success. So I could them cashing big on one of the big name forward UFA's it could really be either of Reinhart or Guentzel but I chose Reinhart since he's younger and could complement Bedard's playmaking nicely.

Also, Korchinski struggled a lot defensively this year. So, pairing him with a very defensive dman like Pesce would be great for him and the D core as a whole.

I would love to have Pesce with Korch. Sadly 4.5 doesn't come close, he will get much better offers from contending teams.

Hawks won’t be able to offer Reinhart enough to leave tax free Florida.

I'm not sure Florida can keep him with $20M available and only 13 players signed without Reinhart/Montour. We'll see though, and to your point...he'll probably want to go to an immediate contender.

I think Chicago is about a year or two away from making a big move like Reinhart. They'll add this offseason, but likely not a 7+ year deal.

Most of what players pay in taxes is Federal taxes, which you still have to pay even in Florida or any other no income tax states. He would only actually pay around $500k more in taxes, which certainly isn't nothing, but it isn't as significant as people make it seem. I think players are more drawn to the climate, when it comes to places like Florida.

Depending on the lottery and who we pick in the 2024 draft, I might prefer to just let FLA make the risky long term signing of an almost 30 year old player, and then make them an offer for Lundell. But I certainly wouldn't mind signing Reinhart.

They definitely will have their cap challenge but as a major contender, others will be sacrificed first (i.e. Knight) in order to keep core pieces like Reinhart and Montour in the fold.

Nice idea. But the Hawks won't be making any long term commitments to any UFA's from this year's class. Think guys like Marchessault or Tanev on big money 2 year deals.

That Reinhart contract gets a GM fired. Hawks stay far away from that contract. Go grab a versatile 2nd line C/W for 2-3 year contract. Get a veteran tough dmen to play with Korch for 2-3 year contract. Those 2 types of players should be #1 on Kyle's list of guys to target in the off season, whether that is in Free agency or via trade.

Hey they still have a ton of money, if he wants more then they could afford it! I've never been great at valuing defensive dman contracts so you're probably right.
