The Colorado trade is fine in terms of value, but I think the Avs value LOC more than most out there would think. My guess is they'd pass and look for a UFA to fill any remaining spot on their D.

Hawks would/should do that trade in a heartbeat but I can’t see the Bolts making that offer after everything they gave up to acquire Jeannot.

Signing Mantha instead of re-signing Duclair is a choice. But not a good one. Like the Roy and Joshua signings. Sheary probably takes a 3rd to dump. Some team will pay a 5th for Jeannot. But not the Hawks. Av's aren't trading LOC for a 3rd pair D man and picks.

Rather wait a year and sign him as a UFA if Hawka really want him. He isn't a difference maker in the Hawks lineup.

I would easily give up the 5th for Jeannot to get him for the coming season. It gives you a year to decide if he is a fit long term and if he is a leg up on other teams in negotiating a longer term contract. It also takes some of the body guard burden off of Foligno

Chances of the 5th rounder ending up being anything of substance are slim to none, small price to pay for someone you know can play in the league.

Is he worth a 5th? Of course. But i watch every Tampa Bay Lightning game that doesn't conflict w/ a Hawks game. Trust me when I tell you Jeannot is not a long term piece for the Hawks. Hawks would be trading a 5th for a bottom 6 rental they really don't need.

Matt Roy gets more, Hometown Detroit beats that offer.
