The hawks obviously shoot that down. We wouldn't take those two contracts for FC.....Also doubt Wash or Utah accept those.

So the Hawks take on $6m in cap hit, plus the 2 extra years of Kampf, and give the Leafs two picks as well? That's the easiest "no thanks" Kyle from Chicago ever uttered.

Fair enough... what would you send back? Chicago needs depth reliability, flexibility, and players to surround the kid. They gave Foligno, and Perry $4M last year... they still have a few years left before competing.

on what basis? Especially the WSH one? Getting rid of two aging players for a top teir playmaker who all but assures Ovi gets the record... Backstrom is done. I actually think this deal is VERY risky for the leafs...

On the basis that Marner is a rental with full trade protection so if they make the deal and it doesn't work out they flipped all those assets in exchange for an overpaid reaves and mid-tier prospect. I will admit that deal is at the very least interesting and probably closer than I gave credit for...as for the other two the hawks can fill bottom 6 spots without giving up picks and Lili is not worth a 2nd.

I think Marner could/would be extended in WSH... other comments are fair... but I think there is a place for those guys in the league somewhere if not Chicago... return is debatable. fair enough

Maybe, but that team has been heading the wrong direction for a while now and I am not sure that Marner does enough to keep them competitive. If they did end up missing the playoffs I think they would have a hard time convincing Marner to stay given the age and direction of the team. Still definitely more interesting of a trade than I originally gave you credit for so that is my B.

With the reported emphasis on improving their team, I can't see the Hawks having any interest in either of those guys. Oshie's best years are behind him production wise and he can't stay healthy. He's not worth his salary - even w/ that $2m in retention. Kampf is an overpaid 4C w/ 3 years left on his deal. He isn't an impact player that makes the Hawks any better. I see no reason the Hawks would want either guy.

Hawks send back hand drawn artwork by a local kindergarten class. Leafs add their 2024 1st to cover the salary dumps.
