Hronek

Created by: brady_t12
Team: 2024-25 Washington Capitals
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 25, 2024
Published: Apr. 25, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If Oshie is on the roster next year and not LTIR’d like is being speculated, get rid of Bertuzzi or Duchene. If neither make it to UFA for the caps to sign, other alternatives include Tarasenko, Domi, Toffoli, etc.

Could also look at moving out Kuemper with salary retention if no one will take the whole contract and you could afford to add a sweetener with the draft capital saved up.

Trades
1.
WSH
  1. Hronek, Filip [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
This only happens if Hronek prices himself out of Vancouver but I know that he’s played great with Hughes so they may do whatever it takes to keep him.
VAN
  1. Iorio, Vincent
  2. Jensen, Nick
  3. 2024 1st round pick (WSH)
  4. 2025 2nd round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
Really depends on how high Vancouver would be on Iorio but he could potentially play full time minutes this coming season. May need another piece going to Vancouver.

WSH
  1. 2025 3rd round pick (FLA)

I definitely think Sens would do that.

Done deal. Hughes will make Jensen into an all-star.

I'd stay clear of Hronek, dude is pretty over rated.

I don’t think the caps can go into next season with that center lineup

TVR to OTT makes a ton of sense. Unless we use up too much cap space somewhere else, Sens should accept.

Do you think they should move McMichael to wing? Or maybe they trade Lapierre or McMichael?

Hronek has grown into a better player since the trade, so the caps should be giving up more. Maybe it's not worth it though if the belief is that Hronek is a product of Hughes, but I think it makes a ton of sense to go after a RHD to play with Sandin long term. Sandin-Carlson doesn't work too great.

I know points isn't everything but he had less ppg this year than last and most models attribute almost all of the play-driving to Hughes. Even if he did improve, was it enough to make up the gap between the extra cost-controlled year? I don't think so

If they get the right player I’d rather they trade lapierre. Tough though, I feel like he has higher ceiling but isn’t quite ready yet

I like CMM at center. It just seems his ceiling maybe great 3C or decent 2C. They definitely weak down the middle
