Draft trade

Created by: JeffGorton
Team: 2023-24 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 26, 2024
Published: Apr. 26, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Habs use their pick on Levshunov or Parekh. If they are both gone, get another forward and sign Roy in FA
Trades
MTL
  1. Keller, Clayton
Additional Details:
Keller fits the age of the roster and probably wants nothing to do with Utah and was probably gonna get dealt even before the relocation
ARI
  1. Anderson, Josh
  2. Mesar, Filip
  3. Reinbacher, David
  4. 2024 1st round pick (WPG)
  5. 2025 1st round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
Arizona/Utah were super high on Reinbacher before the Habs picked him. Any trade involving that much cap coming in, some needs to be moved out. Anderson is the best option in terms of someone actually rebounding.

I assume if Utah is taking salary back they’d rather have the expiring Dvorak deal rather than Anderson’s longer term deal, even if it means getting less in a return. I doubt they move Keller though

Habs aren't giving up a McDavid type of return for Keller, it just makes no sense. Take out Anderson, Reinbacher and the Jets 1st

Why would Keller want to leave Utah and go to Montreal? He's an American from relatively close by in Missouri.

Do you need a geography lesson?! Missouri is 20+ hours from Utah, that like saying Thunder Bay Ontario is relatively close to Edmonton Alberta (again a 20+ hour drive)

4 1sts is a lot closer to McDavid value than Keller's

To be clear, I would do both Habs 1st this year for Keller which is the same as Reinbacher + Mesar (5th + late 1st) but the proposed deal is basically 5th + the Jets 1st + the Habs (assuming the addition of Keller makes the Habs a playoff team) and Flames 1sts next year, Keller simply isn't worth all that IMO.

Because he was drafted by Montreal and was an RFA when he signed the contract. Do you know what a false equivalency is?

You need a literacy lesson to know what "relatively" means.

It's still 20 hours between them, basically halfway across the country, it that is relatively close then I would hate to see what you consider to be far. 20 hours is more than it would take to drive from NYC to Tampa Bay. Hell you can drive from NYC to New Orleans in less than 20 hours but Missouri is "relatively close" to Utah!

Come on, please stop with that non-sense! Canada ain’t third world country. In fact Montreal is one of the best city in North America. Auston Matthews is a american. Caufield is also American, Jt miller, Kyle Connor, helleybuck all sign long term deal.
There been numerous Canadian players who wanted nothing to do with Canadian team. Not because of Canada but because the pressure is not for everyone.
