So wait wait wait

Of the 14 goals BOS scored this series Sammy owes us 2 back.....

And people are making it as if he's he bigger issue

How much does the PP/PK owe us?

He's let in more than just 2 that he should have had. 2 in game 1 alone and 2 in game 4 as well. And it's the timing of his bad goals. It's always when the team is down by 1 or tied or up by one and then he allows a bad one. In any case, giving Woll the start is a no brainer.

Look, if Woll comes in and plays well, awesome. If he doesn't then you are in the same boat. What's the plan next year? If you don't play Woll tonight and they lose, you've sent the message to Woll that you aren't in the future plans. You can't seriously think Sammy is the future considering his lack of playoff success, and inconsistencies. So do you suggest we start Sammy, he will obviously let in 3 and they lose, what's the plan? Trade Marner for Sauros and hope he is a Vezina candidate for the next 6 years? That's risky as hell as well and he's going to command a hefty cap hit himself.

Nah, Woll needs to be given the chance to prove he is in fact the future and it's already been 3 games longer than it should be.

Sammy is not done in the NHL lmao

Yep remember Anderson in playoffs people kept ****ting on him here

Look at him in Carolina. Man might win a cup

If TOR played BOS like they did TBL TOR may have been up 3-1 as that team last year had it figured out. Big boyz 2 by 2 were performing, PP was at 28%, PK was at 76% or when combined special teams were over 100%.

Now its Big boyz barely show, PP is 7%, and PK is 53%

And this is with the same goalie in net btw so yea I think we can see the issue lul

Again like a broken record you keep going he allows blah blah blah goals. Did you not read the stats card @Random2152 gave.

Now lets see how much the PP and PK owe back for goals.

And hey whether people like it or not Sammy is the only goalie in leafs organization history in the Matthews era to help them win a series. Anderson couldnt do it, Campbell couldnt do it, he did it. Is he the long term answer no but through this series he was far from the issue. If TOR was built properly, special teams were going along with the big boyz no doubt they could go on a little run to the semi's with him. Sadly the era is probs up and like Anderson he's probs gonna go have better success elsewhere

The big issue this series was special teams deciding to go down the drain. Look at the TBL series PP was at 28%, PK was at 76%

Right now vs. BOS PP is 7%, and PK is 53% and in both series Samsonov was in net. If TOR was putting up the same special team numbers as TBL, series would be tied or TOR would be up 3-1 on BOS 100% even with Sammy in net.

This crusade against him is just silly. You ignore the other issues or barely skim by them and just blame him when the fact of the matter is he owes them 2 goals lul. As said before it does not matter whose in net if this team struggles to score 5 on 5 and their special teams remain anemic.

Woll maybe has a bright future but he also has not shown enough to be thats the guy we can go on a long run with. He's calm sure but that has not helped him as we saw at various points before and after the injury. 2024-2025 will be a lets see year for that department if he can hang and get them to R2 cool if not go trade for or sign a legit starter even if one could argue its a gamble

Its not that we love him its the fact your making it seem he's the biggest problem when he aint

The stats show he owes them 2 goals this series that's nothing when we see the other issues in TOR

Look at TOR stats with him regular season

Regular season (2024)

PP 25%
PK 77%
3.63 goals per game

Him being in net has not been the issue this series yet your trying to make it the fundemental issue with your crusade against him since even before the playoffs. The issue is PP is 7% and PK is 53% and this team 5 on 5 is scoring 1.75 goals per game thats not good enough especially when we look at last year

Regular season (2023)

PP 26%
PK 82%
3.39 goals per game

Last year vs. TBL

PP was at 28%
PK was at 76%
3.83 goals per game

Both years Sammy's in net whats the difference? Goals scored per game, PP being anemic, and PK struggling.

Again it dont matter whose in net if this team fails to score goals. And so far despite 4 forwards making almost 50m this team has scored in 4 games 7 goals of which 3 have come from them. Thats not acceptable

Its do or die rn. PP has to start going along with this team offensively otherwise just skip to the handshake line and book the golf course party

This sort of extreme nonsensical responses to statements is why the world is falling apart. I have repeatedly said he is a problem. He isn't the biggest problem but he's a problem.

Woll has to be given a chance, he did take the starting job before he got hurt. I don't at all understand why it's even an argument? What has Sammy done to get endless chances at the most important part of the year? Especially given the fact that he's just never been all that good. The only series he won was one in which he was still above 3 GAA and sub .900 sv%.

I know you said it yourself there were lucky to win that series. And he isn't the luck. Matthews was dominant. Marner scored a lot as did Willy and JT. Rielly was insane that series. Sammy had some moments but was also not great overall. The two losses he looked utterly terrible. He was bad vs Florida as well. And then he was not even NHL worthy for the first half of this season.

What's Woll's big knock? He got hurt and took sometime to get back into game shape?

Come on. Woll has to start. You put in Sammy and he fails again, what did you accomplish? You made the future of your crease sit on the bench while you lost in 5. Stupid decision making

Every response you have given has indicated or have tried to manifest he is the biggest problem and Woll is a messiah saviour you can doubt it but through responses to me, Random and others its pretty evident lul

Why has Sammy gotten the benefit of the doubt he aint the main issue. He owes them 2 goals in 4 games. 2 of 14 thats 14% of the goals against this series thats nothing lul

Again as we keep telling yah if they were playing like last year 5 on 5 and special teams wise and were still down in the series yes Sammy would be the issue but in this case were seeing there's bigger problems at hand. He has given them ample opportunity to win if they had kept up their scoring from the regular season and carried the special team numbers over to the playoffs but they didnt.

Leafs have the third worst PP in the NHL with only NSH and LA being worse. And those teams dont have Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares, etc.

Even with Woll in net nothing changes if this team does not score dont know how that can be any clearer. Leafs are going with the only option they have besides a line blender or coach firing. Rather than try new PP tactics nah lets just do this. Woll may be calm and make 1 or 2 more stops dont matter if we cant score lul. We saw that already in the final 2 reg games vs. BOS both 4-1 losses. Anyways done with this convo but again nothing changes unless we start scoring and special teams start clicking thats all there is to it.

Do you not remember earlier in the year when I was literally telling him to **** off with his Sammy love?

The difference between then and now is that Sammy was the issue. Right now he simply isnt

Yep now if we had start of the year Sammy we would not even be at a game 5 rn nope

The broom would have came no matter how good special teams or big boyz were

That for sure would have been the bullseye to whats the issue

As for now I can name 5 problems ahead of him. Hint: 1 is the PP lul

Once again an extreme take where you take all my words out of context. Not sure why but it makes this incredibly difficult to have a conversation.

No where on this thread have I ever said Sammy is the biggest problem. Your last response accuses me of inferring that. My exact words the whole time are Sammy is a problem. Not the biggest problem or the only problem. He's a problem. And it can't be denied that he hasn't been good enough.

Considering his entire playoff career, his first half of the season, how he ended the season and his results in the playoffs, it's pretty clear he's not consistent enough and his bad out weighs his good. The numbers are clear 21 playoff games and a sub .900 sv% and 3+ GAA. He's not a playoff goalie. Or really all that effective over a full season in the NHL.

We know what Sammy is, it's not a world class goalie who can steal you a game or two, he's sometimes really good and often below average. On the playoffs he's almost always below average and the softies he lets in are back breakers.

TO had the momentum in game 3, and he let in a garbage goal that let Boston back in it. Yeah the PP needs to be better as does the PK. But Sammy is a part of the PK. Listen to Kyper and Bourne from yesterday. Sammy looked silly on the JVR goal, he over sold on the PP goal to put them up 2-0. He's all instincts and athletics and if he loses his focus which he does often, he is prone to softies.

I get it, he can be absolutely incredible almost unbeatable and it's so exciting when he's on his game. But his athleticism gets him in trouble and makes it harder for defenders.

So after 21 playoff games enough is enough. 3 goals against is too much and we have a guy who has shown great things at times. I have no worries about Woll handling the pressure, he did so marvelously last year when he came in in game 4 vs Florida.

Trying to think of a new candidate to be PP coach for next year as no matter what happens this series unless we somehow go to game 7 and PP goes from 1/14 to 8/21 yea Boucher be gone

I don't understand how you guys can think 3 goals against every game is good enough. We are going to need to win a game or two here 2-1 or 1-0 even. Sammy is not that guy. He's the guy who lets in the Fredrick goal when we are a head and have the momentum.

Listen to Kyper and Bourne from yesterday. Woll has to play, Sammy is done. He doesn't give us our best chance of winning. He means we need to score 4 to win. Against Boston with our PP woes? That's not good enough.

So in your mind, there is no point in switching goalies because if we don't score 2 power play goals it's over anyways. What is the refs don't call anything? Do you trust Sammy to steal a game when it's needed most? He's had more than enough playoff experience to guess that that is not likely.

Again you keep missing it and like a broken record keep going with the same stuff while missing or skimming the real issues.

It dont matter whose in net if this team dont score. We keep telling yah that

Samsonov stole game 6 vs. TBL last year making 2 good saves in OT before JT gave them the winner. He's not been great this series but of all the goals allowed 2 or 14% he owes back to TOR thats nothing lul.

Sadly in the end long as the PP and PK are anemic and the big boyz dont show up were going no where. They just be trying to grasp for straws rather than just make simple adjustments to the PP and PK setup Jack Han be right

Cooper would be a waste as the PP coach and he would have 0 interest in coming as an assistant

Again the HC is not responsible for the PP going south. This is on Boucher

Nope, I have acknowledged time and again they need to score. I just also am sick of watching us lose by having a worse goalie and Sammy is not good.

Well Woll is starting and now let's just focus on positivity. Hopefully they get going on the special teams. Maybe missing Matthews is a blessing because they won't focus on him on the PP

He's the dream HC. If Cooper is available, he should be hired by TO. Even if they come back and win the cup, I would still fire Keefe for Cooper.

A team focusing him should not a 7% PP when you have JT, Marner, Willy, Rielly, Bertuzzi, Domi, etc.

But anyways he's out other 3 have to step it up otherwise game over.

I have noticed that they spend too much effort looking for Matthews. Maybe without him they will actually move the puck around quick and get some different looks.
