Idk maybe package him for a proven top 6 forward. Doesn’t make sense to trade him really. He’s still very young and has gotten better every season. He fits the timeline. Trading him for a draft pick doesn’t really make sense because he’s better than what a mid to late first usually becomes and that just resets the timeline

Yeah jackets wouldn’t have any interest in those players. Smith and rackell are cap dumps to the jackets. Rust is too old. Guess I should add the top 6 forwards would have to be youngish (25 or younger)

Closest player to that is Drew o'Connor, but he is not proven

He’s a solid player but chinakhov is younger and outproduced him and O’Connor was playing with Crosby

I'd be interested in picking up Petterson, myself.

I would say Pettersson is worth a 2nd and a 3rd or a 3rd and a B+ Defense Prospect, He has done well for the Pens
Edit: A 1st and a C+ Prospect, He is a very good Defensemen

Honestly, that's probably about what Chinakhov would be worth. Not quite enough to warrant a 1st, but could still fetch one (or similar) if it turned into a bidding war.

I'd hate to trade Chinakhov now, because he's incredibly fast with a blistering shot, and could absolutely break out in the next two years...but I'd probably move him 1 for 1 for Pettersson if Pittsburgh was open to it. Dependent on also shipping out Provorov, though, but that feels like a given.

Problem with pettersson is he only has one year remaining. If he would sign a 4 year or so extension for a similar salary I would do it

Girard I still hold with the Hronek trade as a template, and it would almost certainly have to be pure futures if the Avs decided he was the piece they're moving.

I'll preface this by saying I think it would be a mistake to trade Girard:

Girard is underrated by most non-Avs fans but the deal with the Avs trading roster players is that they'd be doing it to free up space while also not creating a big hole in the roster. So, they'd need a solid NHL-ready D that can move the puck to play in his top-4 spot that doesn't cost a lot plus a 2nd. I know that's a tall order but you'd be getting a very good cost-controlled D that can move the puck, plays solid D and has a good amount of term left.

Col traded Newhook for a 1st and 2nd last year, Girard is worth more and COL doesn’t want to trade him. So the words over pay come to mind.

first 3 won't be moved.
Suter is 40, why the hell would you want that.
Luostarinen is interesting but he won't be worth the asking price imo.

We should not be trading Pettersson at all. At this point he is worth just about as much as Hanifin was this deadline. One of the best Defensive Defenseman in the league
