Winnipeg says no for sure. Chychrun isn't resigning in Winnipeg if he won't extend in Ottawa. Spending an asset like Ehlers for one year of a LHD to play behind Morrissey, especially with Chychrun playing the same style as Morrissey, but just not as good as Morrissey, is poor asset management.

The Jets need players with term or team control back that play in a position of need in a trade for a key piece.

No way Winnipeg says yes. Would love Ehlers in Ottawa but can't see Winnipeg doing this

If Chychrun agreed to extend, I'd make this trade as Winnipeg, easy.

Chych doesnt want to re-sign because we suck, not that he doesn't like Ottawa. He just wants to be on a playoff team and Winnipeg is much better than we are so there's a solid chance he re-signs.

I doubt it, he probably wants to play in the U.S.

It's a moot point really though. Chychrun likely wants more than Morrissey on an extension and isn't as good. That's too much for a 2nd pair D and the Jets have Samberg ready to play there next season. Plus the Jets really need a top 4 RHD, so those assets are better spent there.
