Is this a "good News -- Bad News" joke?

General Manager Craig Conroy goes to Director of Hockey Operations Don Maloney and says, "Don -- I have good news and bad news!"

Maloney says, "Tell me the good news first."

Conroy says, "Well, I got rid of Jonathan Huberdeau's contract . . . "

The Kings would only consider this if Calgary retained $2M on Huberdeau to make the trade cap neutral, and that's assuming Huberdeau agrees to waive for LA in the first place.

Leave out Kaliyev and Pelletier, their addition is just added noise to what the real conversation should be.

I'd do it but I don't think LA would. As for the Montreal trade Calgary has no use for a small non physical LD and Harris isn't worth much to anyone else either.

Hell no to PLD

Kylington doesn’t deserve that kind of contract. He needs to play a whole season and prove himself again to justify any kind of raise, in fact I believe he should only get a 1 year deal for the same as Miromanov got = $1.25mil

And if Kylington returns, there’s absolutely no need for Harris who shouldn’t cost a 2nd either. Flames need a Guy like Ryan Graves imo = Big + Physical + Penalty Killing D-Man who is decent at producing offense as well

Harris is a 23 year old defender with 131 games of experience under his belt. He needs another 2 seasons to hit his peak and become the player he is "gonna be" in the NHL.

I actually think he's extremely underrated. He's got a good head on his shoulders, plays either side, and never makes trouble.

Interviews often say, "if he wasn't an NHL player, he could have been POTUS".

I think this favors the Flames due to the buyout on PLD coming at a favorable 1/3 ratio which comes down to $1.1M for 14 years + 11.5M in signing bonuses.

Huberdeau on the other hand has mostly bonuses, so his contract is buyout proof.
