Couturier at half retained

Description
I like this deal both teams. Giving up Rossi is both massive from an asset management perspective and something of a “addition by subtraction” in Guerin’s mind so that he no longer has to build a roster with two little centres on it.

Big gamble on Couturier’s health. Don’t think many managers would do it. Guerin might

wild aren't taking on that contract. They are trying to trade Rossi because they believe in Yurov and trying to make room for him. Wild aren't taking on anymore long-term contract or older players.

It's actually a fun trade. I mean you gotta know Couturier's health situation. But if he isn't injured and they retain half all of a sudden the Wild can compete for the next few yrs instead of potentially wasting these top end dmen era.

I love Couturier , he's 1/2 NHL players to choose to stay and live here even after turning Pro.
That said i wouldnt pay a top 15 pick from the last couple years that already developed for him
He'll i wouldnt give up a CGY 1st rounder for him next year and i'd be scared to offer any pick of value.
IF i did it would be a Condition ridden pair of 3rds that could become a couple 1sts in 2026 and 2027 if Couturier hits certain marks and MTL makes a ECF with him playing 50% type clauses.
IF he hit the mark across the boards then PHI gets paid and MTL would get its value back

But we'd never consider more then two 3rds in case he does what we all suspect and stays on LTIR 50-60% of his remaining time in the NHL.
I mean you asking for what you are with his term when he has a full NMC is a bit surprising too.
It limits the ability to have competing offers therefore killing the market

They can do that next year after 14m from suter/parise mistakes is off the books basically with 875k hit each x 4 years.
All their buyout was front end loaded so the pains short term and MIN is set to have a team built with cap that will be seen as extra to acquire depth.

It'd be a shame for MIN to wait this long and not panic just to panic as the major cost is ending

It’s actually not fun at all for Minnesota. Would rather keep Rossi and see if he can take the next step to 50-60 points.

Wild have Danila Yurov coming next year. They aren't having anyone block his spot at 1c or 2c which is why Rossi is seemingly available. It's not going to happen no matter what. Bill Guerin is also very much like Torch in Philly who scratched him. So with all due respect, no.

I mean. It’s obviously unlikely. But you trying to put your logic at the scenario is just confirming. The chalk.

I ws being intentionally cray. I could see Guerin doing this. Unlikely but possible.

No Guerin wouldn't. There's a reason he's trying to move Rossi and they beleive Yurov and Eriksson Ek will be wild long term 1 &2C for a long time. Not only is your scenarios unlikely like you said, it's impossible.

Couturier at 4.2 mil would be an ideal 2 or 3c. And would provide an excellent playform for Yurov.

Ya but Rossi will never be that type of player. He's a undersized perimeter guy. Couturier at 4.2 would be amazing.

Couturier was one of the better defensive fwds in hockey last yr. Torts is a clear moron. All due respect.

You think you’re being smart by saying this, but you really just exposed yourself as someone who doesn’t know a thing about Rossi.

Rossi plays exactly like Eriksson Ek. Most of his goals are in the gritty areas in front of the net.

I cringed when reading that. Like why even comment if you don’t know anything about the player? lol

You clearly aren't willing to understand. Wild aren't taking on any long term contract. You also forgot wild have Joel Eriksson Ek whose a stud and Marat K as 3c. They don't need anymore C
