New Look Canucks MAJOR Changes

Created by: Canucks_Hawkey
Team: 2024-25 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: May 21, 2024

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Changed the dynamic of the team where we’re more top heavy and ride star talent. The top 6 guys are all interchangable giving coaching staff flexibility with lines. Our bottom 6 forwards are on affordable contracts to accomplish that. We change up our blueline to give it more ruggedness and flexibility. We invest heavily in our top 2 then the bottom 4 are on affordable contracts. We keep Juulsen as our 7. Balanced blueline with enough skill to move the puck up ice. In goal we ride Silovs and sign Samsonov for a solid 1B option. He’s been a fantastic regular season goaltender on stacked teams so if Silovs struggles, Samsonov can step-in. We also replenish our draft capital starting next season with the Hronek deal. Mikheyev gets dealt anywhere that will take him off the books. Trading him saves more cap space than buying out.

This is alot to accomplish, but this is the kind of effort management will have to do to improve the Canucks. There’s enough assets and just enough cap space to make some moves this off season…

Okay, that demko trade is actually interesting.

I'm not sure the Avs see the value in that kind of star goalltender, and I really dont think they have the cap room to make it work. But Lehky would be great in VAN and Demko if healthy could really solve some problems and save some games for the Avs with this rush style.

I like it. Lehky is my favorite Av so i wont do it but if he wasn't, i might consider it haha

It's an easy no for the Avs tbh. They may look to upgrade in net, but they won't use Lehkonen to do it. He's way too important to the team, and even more so with the Nichushkin situation.

Ya the values gotta be somewhere in that range. Both players on cap friendly contracts. Hopefully both the Avs and Canucks will have a good offseason. Getting bounced in the second round sucks.

It might just be me, I don’t see the benefit to moving Demko to start someone who got picked apart all postseason only to get bailed out by an elite offense

I’m sure teams would offer slightly higher draft pick, but getting Jokiharu is a solid RHD replacement on the bottom 4. Watched him with the Hawks and man is he underrated.

Never thought of Hronek and Garland on the Sharks, but I have to admit they’d look good in a Sharks jersey.

The Oilers are that good sadly. Silovs wasn’t very good in game 1, but the rest of the series he kept the Canucks in it. Problem is the Canucks couldn’t score enough and separate themselves from the Oilers. Canucks offense was only something like 2.58 GPG in playoffs. When Kuzmenko left and Mikheyev dropped off the face of the earth, the Canucks offense became mediocre. Right around the all-star break.

Moving Demko to trust Silovs as the starter doesn’t make sense. Give Silovs some time as the backup first

Canucks easily pass on the Buffalo trade. We’re giving up the two best assets in that trade

Agree and agree, it seems like everyone in Buffalo wants to move on from him, not sure why

Man I would love hronek, young enough to meet our time frame, would be a leader, and fits griers player profile

Avs decline. They won't use Lehky for a goalie they can't afford especially with the Nuke situation.

Problem is Miller disappeared the longer the playoffs went on, especially those last 4 games specifically

we're used to it, but the avs won so recently that they won't make any sudden moves. This won't happen due to cap though (i did the math offline)
