The question isn't why would CHI pay a 3rd for him, but "How does this even work?" And the answer is, it doesn't work. Because Katchouk was claimed on waiver FROM CHI, before OTT is able to trade him away they would first have to ask if CHI wants him back. OTT has to have him for 1 year before they can trade him. So, essentially, if you try to trade him anywhere, CHI could just say nope we are taking him back, if they actually have any interest in the first place, which I highly doubt because they let him go on waivers already. But if someone is offering assets for him, they could just take him back and do the trade themselves and OTT gets nothing.

Because this trade does not fit for the Blues. They'd rather keep Dvorsky and not spend four-ish 1sts worth of young talent on a win now missing piece when they're in the middle of a retool. Trading for Brady now makes no sense.
