Uncle Leo played 3 years of center in the KHL!

Toronto would have no interest or need for any of the three players mentioned. I'm sure they wouldn't mind moving Fehr for a pick, but doubt they would want to include Komorov.

Why not? They can flip Hagelin (or even use him to replace Uncle Leo) and keep Pouliot b/c he is still kinda young and he'd probably play in the NHL next year...

It's only an opinion, but, I don't see Pouliot ahead of Dermott, Rosen, Borgman, Nielsen, on the LD depth chart, and they are all fighting for perhaps one spot behind Gardiner, and Reilly! Pouliot's stock has really gone down.

I think Grundstrom and Aaltonen have are already been brought on board to replace Komorov if Leafs choose to do so, but he also might be the only veteran they resign next year if he takes a bit of a haircut. Hagelin's contract is a bit of an anchor as I'm sure you are aware. Can't see any uptick in value over Komorov, Brown, Hyman, or even Shoshnikov or Kapanen. As it is they are all younger, cheaper, and at least 2 of them will likely have to start in the AHL. Sorry just don't see the fit.

I actually am against the grain on this from a Leafs fan perspective, as I don't have a problem with this deal.

Contingent on one thing.

Hagelin is either not included in the deal, or the Leafs can flip him for literally anything right after.

Trading Komarov only makes sense to open a spot for Kapanen, and with Hagelin it restricts that. I have no issue with gaining those two draft picks to let Hunter play with and trade an excess winger on our roster.

I see this a a great deal for the leafs as Komorov and Hagelin and both very different players but both 3rd liners. The leafs also get a young D and some picks out of it. If Hagelin doesn't work out trade him

Exactly what I was thinking 2 seconds I would take for Komarov. Although if we're trading Fehr I don't want to retain Salary

Leafs are going to need cap space next year (if only for performance bonuses), therefore 4m Hagelin and his six goals aren't needed bye the Leafs. It's just an illusion that you can trade or flip a 4m 3rd liner without taking money back. As shallow the defence was for Pens last year, Pouilet couldn't crack their lineup. As Doug suggested, Leafs like their younger AHLer sbetter.
