DID THIS GUY REALLY JUST PUT SAN JOSE AT THE TOP OF THE LEAGUE

Also, aren't you the strongest advocate of Chicago's decline? Yet you have them winning the Central in this prediction. You really need to be more consistent in your predictions.

Are we actually going to turn this into a predictions thread? Let's just make one right before the start of the season. When we make predictions like this, we should give a short explanation for each team. That way we don't have fifteen conversations going on at the same time

Ken Holland, who's actually a good GM, will find a way.

Well his loyalty ways have screwed him over.

DeKeyser 6 years/30 millilon
Ericsson 6 years/25.5 million
Howard 6 years/31.75 million
Kronwall 7 years/33.25 million
Glendening 4 years/7.2 million
Helm 5 years/19.25 million

And the worst of them all...
Abdelkader 7 years/29.75 million

he's not great at contracts but other than that he's a good GM.

Contracts are a big part of being a good GM. Neighborhood on of the worst teams with one of the highest caps isn't good

31 - Vegas - Coming into their first year, they will not be very good.
30 - Florida - They've had a bad offseason, and not a deep enough roster, and they haven't seemed to be working together very well ... expect them to be near the bottom.
29 - New Jersey - You will all know why ... the way they played last season.
28 - Vancouver - Yeah, no need to explain.
27 - Colorado - Better than last year but still pretty bad.
26 - Philadelphia - they lost their starter and traded Brayden Schenn and the rest of their division is getting better.
25 - Detroit - The forward group isn't great, they don't have a top pairing defenseman at all, not even a #2.
24 - Buffalo - they'll have to get used to this new team.
23 - Carolina - Not quite their yet in that division.
22 - Winnipeg - They still need a better defence and don't have quite enough experience.
21 - Boston - The league is getting better, and Boston's defence still isn't good enough, there are a few other teams ready to make it back, Boston falls out.
20 - Minnesota - The Wild lost Marco Scandella and Jason Pominville and the Pacific is getting better, making the Wild lose a WC spot.
19 - Los Angeles - The Kings have won 2 cups in the last 6 years, however, their challenge is making the playoffs. After the season they had, i think they just fall out.
18 - Ottawa - There's more expected from them, and that might not help. Plus Karlsson might be injured for the start of the season.
17 - St. Louis They're a year older and are not getting any better.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

16 - Montreal - Price can help them get to the playoffs even if the forward group isn't great ... and something tells me they'll have another good year.
15 - Calgary - A great defence, pretty good forward group, and they finally have a starting goaltender. this is a playoff team for sure.
14 - Arizona - they're getting better with all their young players and are ready to take the next step.
13 - NY Islanders - Yeah, i've explained too many times. Eberle, Barzal, Ho-Sang, Pulock, and Doug Weight as coach ... this team is NOT worse than they were last year, and they missed by one point.
12 - Toronto - Ready to take the next step with all their young players.
11 - NY Rangers - Right now it seems like every year they're a cup contender ... Lundqvist can bring them to the playoffs with the deep roster they have.
10 - Anaheim - They made it to the Eastern Conference final with a lot expected from them, unlike Ottawa, they should be in the playoffs.
9 - Edmonton - Draisaitl, Talbot, Larsson, Klefbom, etc. Oh yeah, and that Connor guy, i forget his name but i've heard he's pretty good.
8 - Tampa Bay - Injuries and just not a good season stopped them last year, i expect them to be back in the playoffs.
7 - Columbus - We saw what they did last year, i think they'll be back in the playoffs.
6 - Dallas - Hanzal, Radulov, Bishop, etc. They're gonna be a cup contender.
5 - Nashville - Great team, i have them back in the final.
4 - Chicago - Not really a 'cup contender' but a playoff team like they've been for a while ... but i expect them to miss in 2018-19.
3 - Washington - Stanley Cup Champions
2 - Pittsburgh - You all know why.
1 - San Jose - The Sharks have lost Marleau, and they have an older team, but they're a hard working team who might be able to surprise a lot of people and finish at the top of the league with their experience.

About the Sharks - read my reason i just posted.
About the Blackhawks - Yeah, i don't think they're a good playoff team anymore but for one more year i think they'll be a good regular season team.

Hard work doesn't correlate with reward. Every team works hard, but only one can win.

Boston was ranked 9th in GA/GP last year and this is what the defense lost/added in the off-season....

Lost - John Michael-Liles / Joe Morrow
Added - Charlie McAvoy / Paul Postma

So just to confirm our defense was 9th in GA/GP and we added McAvoy while losing no major contributor.....but our defense isn't good enough?

BTW no idea why its still keep Vegas in my quote post

Yes, because Chara is too old, Krug is too short, McAvoy is a bust and Carlo is overrated

aren't you Philly fans the ones saying how Mason was the biggest loss ever and how he's a top 5 goalie in the league?

I didn't say the Sharks will win the cup. They made it to the final 2 years ago, and they have lots of experience. I feel like they're the type of team who, if they work together, could surprise a lot of people. Though i do have the, you know, 'presidents' trophy means no cup' thing happening, as i have them out in round 1.

1) Chara is not too old, he's just not the player he used to be ...
2) Krug is not too small, i'm the one saying how size isn't important.
3) I never said McAvoy is a bust. When did i say that?
4) Carlo is a little overrated, yes. Only by Bruins fans though.
