Three Team Trade PIT OTT ANA
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Yojimbo</b></div><div>Pens:
Johnson, Rust, Hallander, 1st, 2nd -for- Rowney, 5th
Hallander, a 1st, a 2nd and Rust just to move Johnson's contract? These things are getting worse and worse every day.
Ana:
Rowney, Eaves (LTIR) - for- Pageau, Rust, 1st
What is Ana getting Pageau, Rust, and a 1st for? They are giving up trash and not even taking cap or the bad contracts... ?
Ott:
Pageau, 5th -for- Johnson, Hallander, Eaves (LTIR), 2nd
I can see getting Hallander and a 2nd to take on bad contracts/LTIR... but why are they giving up Pageau to do it?
You've had some bad AGMs but this one is just WOW. Is it cries for attention? Do you need someone to call someone?</div></div>
This is madness

ANOTHER Malkin Trade Source WOW
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Arom5477</b></div><div>Value and “who’s better” is completely different.
And I’ll agree that Huberdeau was better than Malkin last year. No argument there. But we both know that <a href="/users/Kakko_to_New_York" target="_blank">@Kakko_to_New_York</a> was insinuating that Huberdeau is just better than Malkin outright.
And Huberdeau had a 90+ point season. That’s outstanding. An outstanding accomplishment. But we can’t just forget that he had never went past 60 points at any other time in his career. That’s a blemish on a player who is “better than Malkin”, when Malkin had a “bad year” and still put up 70+ points.</div></div>
In a sense I agree with you, but I must note that FLA as a team is also worse compared to PIT. That might have had some effect on his numbers.
Ofc this is just pure speculation.

Once Phil Stops Being Hardheaded
would love any sort of retention or saving from Rask contract, but Minnesota has too much tied up in Parise/Suter and now JJ to retain for any team I think. Jarry is a great prospect and probably could earn retention on a bigger contract, but I think Minny is in some trouble soon. Nice maneuver to get two bad contracts for 1 bad contract, but I think the first move could hold up the second one. I like the Pominville signing though! Would be a great leader for the WBS boys in bottom 6 hopefully.

Rust is a fan favorite in Pittsburgh and no way will Penguins let him go for any cheaper than this. This guy nailed the value on Rust hands down!
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wjdjdkf</b></div><div>Thanks!</div></div>
Good value on Rust. The Penguins though wouldn't do it because Rust is a critical part of the team and as the Penguins want to stay a competitor.

Bringing In Players That Havent Won the Cup Yet
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Arom5477</b></div><div>Just based off comments from GMJR (which I kind of agree with): "I wonder if there’s too many guys content with where they are at in their careers after winning a couple of Stanley Cups and is that a signal where some of that has to be changed?"
Bring in new blood that hasn't won to reinvigorate the team. We saw what McCann and Bjugstad brought. Just imagine bringing in 6 more players with a little more intensity. I feel it could make a big difference,</div></div>
So basically you bring in players that have not won yet, and are hungry to win. That’s a nice approach to it.

I just think Kessel best spot, his most productive spot is with the Pens. Any team trading for him would think he isn't going to "Penquin" good with any other team. Wild seem to shedding cap, not taking more long cap, though you trade is fair.
Calgary is close to the cap, don't think they can take on another 3.5m. Gudbranson can be traded but it's almost for a even cap situation I would think. (like so many trades.

I don't think Minnesota wants Kessel today, to old for their core/direction.
In regards to judging him, as you said he has a loooot of years and months to judge him on. Being in a 5x5 slump for 2 months isn't a reason to move out on a player as established as him. It is a reason to keep an eye on him. I know you said "unless he goes off down the stretch", but frankly even if he just returns to his regular self, its more than enough. Plus while he has had no 5x5 goals he is still racking in assists, and providing good value at 6.8 million (6.8 million does not equal ppg). For a team that seems to be in a never ending search for good wingers, I don't think I'd be too excited to move him...
Trade value-wise isn't bad though. probably slightly overpay on Minnesota's part.

WOW, that's a blockbuster. Not sure that MIN would want a Kessel-level guy on their team, as I think that they're looking at getting younger for next year. That being said, I think that this trade works, although I think that PIT wins the trade pretty handily, I wouldn't reject that trade from either side. Well Done

MTL Trade BIG
Only way MTL thinks about that is if they can get a top 6 center somewhere else. They finally get one with Domi, they aren't letting him go without a replacement.
COL only does that if they think Simon is better than Compher, but I don't think they believe that. Of course Jordy sweetens the pot but they need help right now.
