Having several veteran players available and having everyone available are two very different things.</div></div>
Wait what?? I dont believe i suggested that they are the same thing. I asked the question separately in a different paragraph. I didnt mean to suggest that if it came across like that

Likely none. But possibly Liljegren. A Pesce deal seems very difficult as the Canes are in win now. It would be like the Leafs trading Brodie. Canes Likely keep him as an own rental and make every attempt to resign him

The only thing I found was this - https://www.nhltraderumors.me/2023/12/blues-rumors-2-potential-landing-spots.html - which is delusional clickbait nonsense. Put all of these "insiders" together, they probably can't combine for one tiny clue about the Blues. Army runs in stealth better than almost any GM, and these guys only really have great info on Canadian/monster market US teams half the time.
But just FYI, anyone who claims everyone is available in STL is a bald-faced liar. That's just pure undiluted BS.</div></div>
Again, rumours are just that. If a leafs trade involving Parayko was to be talked about i believe the Blues would start with Nylander and they would want an extension in place and the leafs wouldnt want to do that. No one knows what will happen and if rumours are bs or not.
Also why wouldnt the Blues have several veteran players available??? Honest question. Do the blues/fans believe they can be a playoff team?

Yes an insider quest on overdrive mention possible STL changes after the disappointing Berube firing, paraykos name was mentioned as well as others. I apologize i cant remember if it was Piere Labrun or Chis Johnston. Also NHL trade rumours has reports of it. Again reports can be completely baseless and Paraykos name in trade rumours followed by nothing happening is nothing new.

U could possibly be right. Reports this week out of STL are saying almost everyone in STL is available. Obviously no one knows how reliable those reports are.
I would say u are correct with reguards to Seattle. It would probably take an overpay to get anyone with term out of there. Also the Tatar deal seem to suggest they still think they can find success and make the playoffs.
Personally i believe every veteran on CLB is available.
Ristolienen has been a different player in PHI and his underlying stats show he has become a valued player. It would likely be a similar price tag as pesce or Tanev as risto has term and i dont think the Leafs would do a deal for a player with term and money. I would be very surprised at a deal like this

What Dallas would have to pay to match Leafs 12 x 8
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>No investment can guarantee returns (obviously), but there is a fairly commonly used formula to determine the present value of future cash flows using the “risk-free rate” which is usually pegged to US Treasuries. So say it’s 2%….than the value of $100.00 today = $102.00 a year from now and $104.04 two years from now.
For contracts in a cap world, even if you front loaded the most allowed up cap (still have to have $775,000 each year), there is a limit to how much that would boost the value.
Another way too look at…front loaded money may earn 2% more per year. A bad tax locale may take up to 14% more of that money.</div></div>
For discussion sake a growth stock mutual fund (basic entry level investing) would historically bring around 8-12% annually. If the option of a big payout the day the contract is signed is on the table the athlete is taking it 100% of the time. My point to all this is the advantage of early big payment gives u the option to invest big and early having the big investment make u money as early as possible and therefore offset the tax "Issues".
Would an individual rather invest 10mill today or 1mill every year for 10 years.

Lots of loopholes for taxes. I know that the way the leafs were able to do the Marner contract was unique. A massive chuck of the deal was paid early, obviously teams need deep pockets for this. The advantage to this is the player can take that chuck of cash and invest it making huge returns. I believe alot of rich owners use this advantage in negotiations

The most appealing thing about schenn was that he made 800k and had no term, Gudbranson has one of the worst contracts in the league, even 50% retained</div></div>
Shenn was in the AHL a few years ago and now signed a decent money and term deal. Im interested in what site u are using to reference how bad Gudbranson advanced stats are. I am using money puck and by no means am i diving deep into the stats but it seems he has been an ok defender when asked to play a proper role. Am i missing something. Genuine guestion?

Mike Johnsson from TSN suggested that we shouldn't be surprised to see the Leafs shore up the 3rd line with a Veteran as well as making a deal for defenceman. I wouldnt be opposed to giving Robertson alot of runway to establish himself and that line however we must admit the current 3rd line is not a prototypical cup winning 3rd line.

Donato is a Dog on the Puck, i like his defensive numbers. Same for the Veteran Jenner. In my opinion the leafs are going to not only be looking for veteran depth to solidify that 3rd line. Adding defence doesnt mean just adding defenceman. I look at Gudbrandsons numbers that are decent so far this year on a bad team and compare it to a Shenn move. That im sure the Leafs are trying to replicate.

What has Liljegren done to deserve 3mill per year. So far he has been a 6th defenceman. NHL caliber for sure but 3million. Also Robertson has only proved he can score at the AHL level, 2mill for an AHL player is bonkers, although both of these guys have potential this is a great over payment for what they have currently produced. I also cant see Brodie and Tanev taking pay cuts at this point in their careers especially with the cap increase that is expected.

Its not about the trade team. I literally didnt look at the team i clicked on. Leafs have a cap problem and Jarnkrok is a top 3 trade candidate as he makes 2.1mil. Hes a 10-15 goal scorer and a 30-35 pt guy, there are 7 guys left on the UFA list that have more or similar production to Jarnkrok and he had time with Matthews last season. Again this trade/post has nothing to do with the sharks and more to do with a possible Jarnkrok trade and leaf lines to start the season

No, I never even considered a team. Im really not sure what teams are on his list. The cap is going to dictate a move of some sort. Jarnkrok being a 10-15 goal scorer and a 30-35 pt guy per year he would seem like a very replaceable player and a top 3 candidate to be moved. I could see Mcmann or Steeves being able to replace that production for less money.

What has Ilya Samsonov done to earn 5 mill over 4 years? The Leafs were unwilling to pay Anderson 4.8 mill per year and Campbell 5 mill per year. One bad month and Woll making 850000$ is the starting goalieand then the leafs are in a **** show with their backup making 5 mill

Shenn gives the Leafs options. Teams need to be able to play every way in order to win. Tampa has a heavy bottom 6. The Perry line is slow however below the redline they are effective on the cycle. Shenn is effective at stopping the cycle and clearing lanes. Id say he plays in the Tampa series but if the Leafs were playing say Carolina id say he doesnt play

I disagree obviously. I believe he would fit perfectly in our top 6 and is a low cost option now and moving fwd. He also played jr with Marner in London. He is also familiar with the city , the team and the culture.

I couldn't agree more with your Holl take. He has quietly done everything the coaching staff has asked him to do obviously with different levels of success. However his value to the leafs is going to have to be replaced with one or two cheaper options in the Offseason. It also wouldnt surprise me if Dubas looks to upgrade Holls roll position with the team at the deadline. With that be said it would be very difficult to do and likely expensive.
