Amazing Draft
Obviously won't happen, but this would be so fun. The idea of trading up for Eisserman applies in general even if we miss Celebrini. Getting him plus Lindstrom or one of the D would still be a great haul

It is the 7th overall. I keep seeing people doing Zacha, Severson and like the 20 something OA. I think it needs to be 7th overall, plus next years 1st round pick (Maybe top 10 protected.. but probably not)

The 3rd and 4th are interchangeable...if Ryan could take a step like his brother, the Hawks get a ton of depth and 4 lines that are hard to match up against.</div></div>
honestly i really hope the rangers keep him.. he played very well in an expanded role last year (he had 22 points in his final 27 games in a 2nd line role).. i would love to see what he could do in between Kreider and Kakko (assuming namesntikov and smith are gone to get cap complient). I'd be happy with 45+ points in that slot

Yeah I mean Lagesson can't step in a definitively take over a top 6 roster spot for certain, depends how he progresses through camp. But he is on a 2 way elc as well so he can either play 1st pair AHL or 6-7 D and then project to take Kulikov's spot next season.

Why do Buffalo fans insist they are getting Ehlers or Connor in a Ristolainen trade? Like there is a 0% chance it happens. You're over-valuing Ristolainen.

Pionk deal confirmed
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BigE</b></div><div>It seems high for Pionk, but it looks like crazy $$ is being thrown at young defenseman, especially right shot ones. The Trouba deal is crazy in my opinion....I thought he looked very suspicious the last 2 playoff series losses, like teams figured out that if you apply great pressure to him he'll cough up the puck, which he did in volumes against Vegas and the Blues. When the blues were forechecking, Buff was carrying the puck out to some success, while other D were beating the press with decent outlet passing. Trouba didn't seems to be able to to either. I'd love to see the clips of all the turnovers from those 2 series Trouba had. My suspicion is Trouba will not be very well regarded in NY and will crumble under both big city pressure and actual hockey pressure.</div></div>
I agree, Rangers will see it as an albatross in a few years

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BigE</b></div><div>Ellis's advanced stats are good, but they aren't excellent...which suggests much of his success has to do with whom he's played with and that he wouldn't see as much success outside of the powerhouse top 4 Nashville always throws out there. Not sure he's be in any discussions if he played for the Senators.
I hope you are right though....only problem is your argument is predicated on Jokiharju actually getting better...if anything last year, he got worse...and didn't dominate in the world Jr's or in Rockford....I'm actually fairly worried he may be a bust as a 1st rounder...BTW, I also think it was a horrible mistake playing him at all last year...he now has to be protected in the expansion draft...</div></div>
Jokiharju won 2 gold medals last year. World JRs and was the only roster player on team Finland for the world championships with NHL experience. Now that I know you’re an advanced stat junkie I can see why you think Murphy is a top pair dman.

2019-20
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rush5154</b></div><div>For the big name RFAs (Connor and Laine) I think this is pretty accurate. Connor's camp will say "we'll take Nylander's deal" and it'll make sense if he continues on the pace he's on (i.e., 65 points). Laine's camp will say "we'll take Eichel's deal plus cap inflation" since the cap is projected to increase by 8 million between the time both contracts were signed (Eichel signed at 75 million cap - Laine will sign when cap is 82-83 million). I don't know how Chevy will negotiate them down from those comparables; Winnipeg doesn't have any tax benefits and it's a pretty miserable town compared to the other big Canadian cities (and yes I've been to Winnipeg several times, not just the airport). Trouba will be interesting...</div></div>
Agreed in regards to Connor and Laine, that is a good comparable! Like most Canadian cities, yes the tax is going to be higher. But, being from Winnipeg I don't think it gets enough credit haha. It's no Toronto or Vancouver but I think players realize it's a great city to play in. Winnipeg absolutely loves the Jets, and our building is loud, great environment. That is why we have to draft and develop. We don't ususally attract many big name UFA's, but once players are here, I think most want to stay and enjoy playing here...except one who comes to mind and I believe he wears #8...hahaha.

Spector Trade Rumor
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>Kane is very good, but Reinhart is a lot younger. Is the difference worth three first round picks?
Here is a table of some potentially relevant statistics:
Name ____________________________________Age______________Points this year
Patrick Kane..................................................30...............................38
Griffin Reinhart...............................................24..............................2
Sam Reinhart...................................................23.............................32
Just to be clear, in the above trade, you included Sam Reinhart. Not Griffin.
So I think, given age and remaining contract term, it comes out better as a one for one, with Moulson included to balance a bit of cap hit this year.</div></div>
Patrick Kane is on the worst team in the league though... With more points, while Reinhart wouldn't have nearly that many points on Chicago. There's a big gap in the standings between Buffalo and Chicago for a reason. The trade is definitely overpay, but to say Reinhart for Kane 1 for 1 AND Chicago taking a cap dump is laughable. Kane's going to go down as one of the best (Matthews and Eichel right up there with him) American players to ever play. Best Blackhawk player in franchise history. It's going to take more than Reinhart to get Kane.

Also I think we're forgetting about Mason "rookie of the year" Appleton. Lastly, if we resign Wheeler...does it make sense to convert him to the 2nd line C.....he played well last year when Scheif went down. Seems the Jets are loaded with young talent of the wings....might make sense to pay Wheeler like a #2 C.</div></div>
That is brilliant! Because I think if Wheeler wants to get paid he had to play C. Only want you can pay him.9. If he is a center I think that events put the top 6

Trocheck
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BigE</b></div><div>I mean this in the most endearing way possible....but you guys are all nuts. Trocheck isn't a normal 2nd line C...he put up 31 goals and 75 points last year and would be a #1 C on 1/2 the teams in the league....with that said he is undersized, his advanced stats are average (though his zone starts are defensive, which is somewhat odd, but clearly he's a 2 way player). He'd fit in nicely on a line with Laine and has a great contract.
For reference, and as I've said before this trade is very similar to the Jones/Johanson trade....for reference, Johansen put up 71 points, but is much bigger and had better advanced metrics....more a prototypical 1st line C. Mark Pysyk is interesting, former 1st rounder.....but in looking at his stats he shouldn't costs Appleton....probably someone like Spacek....or, if they are giving up on Petan. Lastly, Trouba is a fringe 1st pairing dman....For example, on Florida last year he wasn't better than either Yandle or Eckblad he'd be their 3rd best Dman....at least right now....which is why a 2nd rounder is also given up...In hindsight I'd change the trade to Trouba, Petan, and a 2nd for Trocheck, and Pysyk.</div></div>
Lots of interesting dialogue a few last comments
1. yes...i agree Trochek could be a 1C on many teams and perhaps Im undervaluing him in this trade. He wouldn't be a 1C on the Jets, and yes, he would fit nicely with our wingers.
2. I argue you are doing the same for Trouba....he is a legit 1st pairing D league wide. You can always find a team with a better RD which would bump him down to a 2nd pairing (Ekblad, Karlsson, Doughty, etc). His advanced stats are great and his counting stats are good considering he is PK specialist at this point and hasn't got PP time due to presence of Buff and Myers.
