Regular season
No one is trading for Barrie at the TDL. He isn't a rental and is woeful in his own zone. If a team needs a cheap PP specialist they could likely sign Subban for much cheaper on a 1 year deal, and get a much better defensive player

Canucks Version of CGY FLA Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Islesforthecup</b></div><div>Plus huberdeau is younger than miller and significantly better.</div></div>
I'm sure the 2.5 months age difference will have a big impact on their decline!
Huberdeau is a better player but Miller with an extension is worth a lot more than Huberdeau for 1-year without an extension
Also important to note that Huberdeau has been terrible in the playoffs, he's a regular season kind of player

Canucks Version of CGY FLA Trade
Barzal is a 60pt player, not a 100pt player like Tketchup. Also Barzal's numbers are trending downwards each year.
VAN already has their top centers sorted, so I think VAN would be unlikely to have enough interest to trade this much for Barzal.
With respect to this being compared to the Tketchup trade...the major difference in your trade is that Miller has an extension and Huberdeau didn't. That would make Miller a lot more valuable than Huberdeau in a trade (even though Huberdeau is a better player than Miller).

Have removed Poolman from the deal then. Was really only included so that CHI had a replacement RD while they tank for 1-2 seasons

The isles struggled to score because they had two 40 year old pylons on the defense last season, not because of their forwards</div></div>
Ok I am glad you think that was the reason for not being able to score. BTW no one know what Miller is looking for in a contract, so you are just guessing. He appears to fit the NYI age range perfectly. I would expect NYI to be throwing everything at it to win now while their players are at their peak but never mind. Keep trying.

There's nothing ignorant about my answer. Miller is only 18 months older than Pulock and Pulock is just about to play his 1st season of an 8 year contract. But I get that you don't like the trade. No big deal.
My point still stands that NYI has really done nothing to improve their scoring since last season. Good luck in 2022-23.

Haha there's no way Pulock is worth more than Miller. I think you can forget trading for Miller unless you are giving up something worthwhile. NYI will continue to struggle to score next season as they haven't done anything to address this issue.
And Myers is a negative asset? He performed better than Pulock last season. Myers was +15, Pulock was +0.
Myers at ES:
17 pts
QoC corsi for % = 0.226 (i.e. played against tougher competition)
oZs = 46%
oiGF/60 = 2.5
oiGA/60 = 2.1
Net oiGF/60 = +0.4
Pulock at ES:

QoC corsi for % = 0.028 (i.e. played against less tough competition than Myers)
oZs = 43%
oiGF/60 = 2.8
oiGA/60 = 2.6

Nucks - one can dream
Is the dream to tank for Bedard?
These are some terrible returns for Miller and Pearson. Lundkvist can't even perform at AHL level, not sure how we put him into the top 4 next season. If we trade Pearson it will be to clear cap space not to replace him with an overpaid 4th liner in Kassian. Pearson has value, EDM will have to pay someone to take on Kassian's contract and it shouldn't be VAN.
Massive downgrade on the team from 2021-22 season.
Mikheyev is an OK addition. Bjugstad is ok too, maybe a little injury prone but fills a need as a RH 4C. Doesn't use his size unfortunately.

Not enough for Deslauriers and also probably not enough for McLeod.
Pretty sure a team like BUF or ARI would take on Klefbom (who is LTIRetired) for free. As long as his contract is insured, it costs them nothing and they use his cap hit to exceed the cap floor.

Off Season Moves Part II
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>A Canuck is a person from Canada. I'm not, nor have I ever been a fan of the Vancouver hockey team.
The Kings definitely need help on scoring. I don't think Boeser is the answer. For one, he's never cracked 30g in his career. Additionally, the Kings are looking to become a fast team, and Boeser is a below-average skater, at best. There are a lot of other goal scorers I'd look at before Boeser.
I've been advocating for the Kings to trade Kempe as well. I don't think he's worth anywhere near the extension that he's going to want. If Kempe wants more than $4.5M AAV on his next contract, then the Kings should get rid of him.</div></div>
Fair enough. I agree Boeser's skating is below average. He is really a sniper, so he can be an excellent complementary piece to the right line/team and is easily worth the trade pieces proposed, plus a long term contract in the $6m range. Although he hasn't cracked 30 goals in a season, his whole career has been on pace for 30 goals per 82 games (121 goals in 324 games).

Boeser isn't worth $7.5M. Don't want him on my team. Certainly not worth giving up a haul like that for him.</div></div>
Your profile name made me think you were a Canuck fan, but from your comment, I guess you are an LAK supporter.
Boeser is actually likely to sign a long term contract for less than his QO.
Also you don't think LAK need help on scoring? Boeser has averaged 0.8 ppg over 5 seasons, compared to say Kempe who have averaged less than 0.5 ppg for 5 seasons.

Yes but another reason for that is that VGK have chosen to trade all their prospects to win now (e.g. Krebs, Suzuki, Glass, Brannstrom, etc). You don't have to take that approach.

Sorry for the confusion...
The 3LW = Chytil (we already have Pearson, Dickinson, Hoglander that can play 3LW)
The 3 fringe NHLers are:
Lundkvist - played 25 NHL games this season
Kravtsov - played 20 NHL games last season, none this season
Jones - played 22 games over last 2 seasons
They are not really prospects anymore, they are tweeners struggling to make an NHL roster that haven't performed very well at the NHL level.
VAN already has Rathbone, who is a smaller sized Dman like Lundkvist and Jones, and he is out-performing both in the AHL.
I guess my point is that I would want a serious piece coming back in a trade for Miller (like a high pick or a top level prospect or player) not a 5 low level guys and a late pick.

The package proposed for Miller is a 3LW + 3 fringe NHL players + a 2023 1st (probably in the 15-30 range). Not exactly what I'd call a "haul"
VAN would be better going after a return that nets them a fewer number of weak pieces and trading for something more proven or with a higher potential ceiling. Otherwise just resign Miller. In 3 seasons in VAN he is averaging over 1.07 ppg.
