Captain O Captain

Player must agree to the conditioning assignment. The assignment can not last longer than 2 weeks. Depending on the AHL season start and Preseason it could be a good thing to look in to for Blais. However Blais would get more hockey in if he stays with NYR before his conditioning stint would be completed. 12 games instead of 9 if he is sent down with the conditioning assignment on the 9th of October. I would think if he was a top line player it would be better off for him to take that assignment but with the fewer games and such I don't think it is worth it.

Captain O Captain
My list for captain:
Kreider - Perfect candidate for the C.
Fox - Young so can have the C for a long time, best defense player we have had since the 90s (sorry McD), not enough of a leader mentality yet nor matured enough in the league yet.
Zibanejad - Fan favorite player, leadership mentality, maturity, good amount of time spent with team, team is behind him
Trouba - duration of time in league, maturity, not with team long enough overall.
Panarin - Fan favorite player, not likely as he seems to not want it.
Chytil - long shot

Moves - bored
Yea those moves are horrid. They not only don't fix what is wrong with the forwards it has a complete jam to the LD side. If you acquired a 2nd/3rd line LW then I would be more open to this boredom moves.

Ranking All Prospects
Probably a little movement on the LW from the organization point of view. Cuylle is looked at highly in the eyes of Drury and co. So I think him being 2nd being Othmann is the play. Berard in 3rd and Gettinger in 4th. Lindbom probably is ahead of Boyko and not by much.

Kreider has played (not much to really matter too much) as RW.
And Sabres need LD and middle line center too?

Reach for the Brass rings By a Field
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PuckLuck_77</b></div><div>That's not true, unfortunately. The Kings have Drew Doughty, who's still an elite defender, followed by a sincerely below average defense. That's been part of the problem in LA. There were certainly strides made this year with the progression of Roy and Walker, but when Ben Hutton is your top-pairing defender with Drew Doughty, you aren't a "decent NHL defense".</div></div>
To be fair as well. The Kings just need to accept a rebuild anyway. Most of the core is over 30 and their skills are starting to show diminishment. Getting Laf would be the start of the rebuild and using the depth they have acquired for Center will help too. There are some quality defensemen in the draft and UFA has some young better options.

Rangers probably would think hard on the trade but say no. Fox, Trouba, and ADA are all right handed and the need on defense is left side.

Kings aren't also hurting in the defense department either. They still have a decent NHL defense and I doubt they wouldn't think hard about that trade if they can get Laf.

Hard Tank + Hard Pivot to Contention Via Free Agency

Definitely agree about Hughes, the Rangers just aren't that lucky! lol Was just wondering if the player they end up drafting in this scenario is someone that can be penciled in right away.</div></div>
I am expecting the Rangers to target a defenseman with these moves to be honest. I would think Bowen Byram is the target here. He MAY be ready for 2019/2020 season and I would think additional moves could be done depending on Tampa's pick.

I like this team. It looks like it would be a playoff team this coming season at worst. Wonder if we can reduce the Montreal trade by tossing in ADA and making the 1st our 2019 2nd and 2018 3rd.

Hate that we get rid of Kreider but it is nice to get Domi back with that. I dry heave every time I see Kovalchuk on a Rangers' roster here. I would rather put Chytil or Domi on that 1st line LW and keep Buchnevich on that 1st line RW. Sign a player for the 3rd line RW or use Lettieri.

Splitting hairs here a bit but Vesey and Spooner would likely get 500k-1m more on their contracts. Granted if Vesey gets near the expected 2.5 million it is likely with another year or two as well.

It’s pathetic and people going oh he’s a playmaker... he should go for a 7th and I’d be happy and pack his bags.</div></div>
Playmakers generally don't put up goal totals. Instead they usually compile assists. As well, 5 years of 45+ points for a player that isn't a physical player (like Callahan or Drury) is likely to keep his production up (like St. Louis). So his value is in his consistent production, veteran leadership (could be the next captain), and passing ability.

Good thing Chytil is there then. Those middle 2 lines have the ability to have their players switch their actual position quite a bit. Plus I would rather have him as a 3rd line center than a 2nd lind left wing.

Debatable onnthe value. Faulk is easily a 1st pair defenseman while Zucc is a quality 2nd line playmaker. The description may be long but think of how it would look if I didn't separate the break down of the roster moves.

Zucc and 1st for Faulk
DeAngelo and 2nd (any extra value from 1st) for Teravainen

Calgary huh ? Interesting i might redo this with them
Was on the fence with buying out Staal since suffering through another year would alleviate the cap hit & the D is young and IMAGINE if a new coach/system has him find some of his game & he becomes tradeable?
i know i know crazy talk but it's Friday & i'm feeling optimistic.</div></div>
Ok I can get behind the bridge deal and I think if we are getting rid of Hayes then Spooner should be here for an extra year. I hear you on young players and all but if we do get a defenseman then I think Staal is the most likely to be gone.

Calgary I heard wanted Zucc. Perhaps acquiring Kylington and Foo or Tuulola instead. We can sign Chiasson for 3rd line RW or use Lettieri at that point. Buyout Staal to put Kylington in the NHL roster.
With that cap space why not give another million to Spooner for another year of playing? Give Skjei another 1.5 for 2 more years of play?

As well Garrison has one of those full no trade clauses so he would have to waive that just to be moved and he might not be willing to do so without it being to a playoff contender. I'm throwing in the 2nd because of the acquisition of Tuch and Haula. (Keep in mind that the Wild traded Tuch and a 3rd for Vegas to only select Haula so obviously theu didn't think highly of either player overall)
