Yeah but it's the responsibility of the 31 other teams to service the Leafs needs at all times.
It doesn't matter what the Flames needs are here.
You'll eat a big $hit burger and like it. 🤭

Ironic that you are calling me stupid, but you can't do basic math.
I know this is hard for you since you don't have enough fingers to count this high but I will try and dumb it down for you.
The Leafs are over the cap by $8,831,450, Muzzin's hit is $5,625,000... so now let's do the math Einstein, you can use a calculator if you need to.
8,831,450
- 5,625,000
==========
3,206,450
That means after Muzzin is on LTIR the Leafs are still over the cap by $3,206,450... that is with a 23-man roster and Samsonov not yet signed. For arguments sake, let's say Samsonov only gets $3 million in arbitration (he will get more), now you are over the ca by $6,206,450
I stated you needed to sign your starting goalie, and shed 5-8 million, I hate to break it to you, but you haven't signed your starting goalie and 6 is between 5 and 8.
Now ask yourself again, who's stupid?

Using points and goals for a defenceman that'll never again score the same is ridiculous.</div></div>
If you only read goals and points that's your fault... there is all the pts/60, fenwick, corsi, Zadorov started in the Dzone more often, significantly better point share at both ends of the ice, Zadorov costs less, Zadorov is younger, Zadorov isn't coming off his wost season as a pro. Brodie played 3 minutes more per night, if that's what you are calling a 1st pairing d man you're out of your mind.

I agree that the Flames will be bad this year. Which is why flipping first round picks with Buffalo is insane
And they could trade Hanifin at the deadline still, for a return equal to or better than Krebs
If the trade was just Hanifin for Krebs + 2024 1st, then yeah it makes sense

If it's not the players fault the team missed the playoffs then it's the coach. Considering the system kept almost all the offence to the outside, the coach is definitely the problem. The system sucked.

Can't really link anything because I haven't saved any of them and don't want to fish around to find them. Point is, it's been pretty openly talked about among media insiders and confirmed by MTLs GM.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ricochetii</b></div><div>To my knowledge there has never been an article about Josh Anderson being a negative asset and nobody is sharing relevant sources to support that either.
Is it so hard to believe that multiple GMs would be interested in a player with his combination of size and speed? We know those are the most (over?)valued traits even in the absence of strong numbers. We see it every year.</div></div>
Weird because I listen to every one of Elliot's pods and never once heard him mention trade interest in Anderson.
I also have seen Josh Anderson on multiple worst contracts lists on the athletic and bleacher report.
And miraculously I actually have LINKS to show these. Unlike the claims habs fans constantly make.

If Anderson was a rental, he might have some of the value Montreal fans believe he has, but he's not. He's got another 4 years left on an abysmal contract with trade protection.
I find it hard to imagine that there are many GM's willing to tie their jobs to that anchor without sending an almost equivalent amount of long term, horrid cap back to balance it out.
Cap is king in the NHL, so I'd like to see some of these deals these supposed "insiders" have heard of being offered.

I'll preface this by saying I was team rebuild.
But I don't think a GM can afford to worry about what will happen in 4+ years. It's too far away to try and predict. Cap might go way up, GM might not be here or the team might be in full rebuild. Or maybe the player in question is still a very productive player. No point in trying to guess.
Flames really didn't want to rebuild, even if they lost Johny and Chucky. Calgary has a Vezina finalist, selke finalist center, a jack adams/cup winning coach, and a strong supporting cast outside of that.
The window is right now over the next 4 years. Who cares about after that at this point in time.

And why do you say Tomasino "had a tough finish to last year" -- I don't really see that. He had 7 points in his final 15 games and played in 3/4 playoff games as a rookie. I'm not sure I would expect much more than that. And you're calling out the recent signings/trades as to why NSH would be interested here, but that's exactly why they wouldn't. <strong>They don't have the cap space anymore to add $5m+ in Kerfoot and Holl,</strong> even if they wanted to. Tomasino is more valuable in terms of potential and contract to NSH-- they won't be trading him either way though.</div></div>
Cap space won't be an issue, once NSH trades Sissons and Borowiecki to CAR for Seth Jarvis. Based on the trade here, that's the going rate for young top six forwards apparently. :sarcasm

Can the Flyers be saved
I want to avoid being a troll here. So, as politely as possible, I am going to say Calgary would never take this deal. They are giving up a top 4 d man who outscored Dougie Hamilton last year, and 1 year of Sean Monahan's cap, to take on a 30 year old Center making upwards of 7MM a year for 4 more years and had the same amount of points as Kylington last year? Kevin Hayes is in steady decline. Philly would need to pay to have a team take that contract and it would be steep. It's that or you buy him out. I could see Monahan for JVR, since both are UFAs and it saves Philly some cap.

If you think Calgary considers a late 1st and a good but not sure thing D prospect you should probably look up how good Andersson actually is. He’s elite at both ends of the ice and his contract is a steal.

After the deadline
Funny thing about Zadorov is that he's been a perfect 3LD. Big, mean, plays less than 20 a night, chips in a little up front. The Flames went out and got him specifically because of how the Colorado series went three years ago, the Flames got absolutely bullied and Zadorov was a big part of it. I don't think they move on from him this year because they want him for a playoff series. At the least he's certainly not worth paying to get rid of.

Cherry pick whatever you like from these comments. you dip and dodge the points that make sense and reaffirm yourself with completely inaccurate points. It's tough to call me bias when this thread is mostly Habs fans disagreeing with you. I'm still on for the delete your account bet, I'll even let you adjust your return that you expect.
