Possibly, I do think Its a pretty even deal for both, value vs benefit. 1 for 1 doesn't seem palatable for either though. Could be the "bones" of a trade.

Probably get better assets….Harris not much of an asset. The cap space comes with any trade.

Petey
This is probably what a Petey trade looks like (without Kreider) to be honest. Maybe they get one blue chip prospect in a potential offer but the more valuable offers overall will be a combination of good young roster players and picks.

He’s not good defensively, so he doesn’t really fit with Hughes. The fact that he is from BC has got to be the dumbest scouting trait I’ve ever heard.</div></div>

Nonsense trades. What's with the boy crush on Fabro by so many Canuck fans? He’s a low end NHL dman and not improving the blue line to any significant degree. Was he your neighbor??

Another potentially low cost acquisition
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Goreton</b></div><div>Savard is perfectly fine. The perception he sucks is only caused by him taking 1st pair minutes when he should be a 4th dman. Habs won't trade him unless they have a good return and they are not looking at dumping him at all. And he has been nothing but a great leader for all the young dmen habs have. Marty praised him last week on the biggest TV show we have in Quebec by saying he's the epitome of leadership and that he would have loved to have Savard as a teammate when he played.</div></div>
When GMs are quoting “Character” it’s usually because the other skills have declined to a large degree. Savard may have value to the Habs, but he’s a pretty clear cap dump for everyone else . A team would need to be desperate to trade for him and play him top 4 minutes.

Final tweaks
How does this make any sense for Vancouver?? Armia is a redundant (for Vancouver) over paid bottom 6 player that will add 8.6 M real dollars over TWO years to the Canucks payroll. Desmith is not going to get Montreal any value with that salary and given their roster crunch. Teams will likely pick him up for free on waivers soon enough. Myers may not have much value, but at a 1 M real salary as a big RD the Canucks probably get some kind of pick WITHOUT having to take all that garbage back.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rob32sjsharks</b></div><div>No he won’t? Myers is washed up, no offense almost as bad D wise as Vlasic has been, Labanc still has 40 point potential and that’s worth way more and why you guys want him.</div></div>
Wingers have been worth virtually NOTHING in the current cap world. A RD with size and decent mobility is worth so much more. Vancouver would love merely a pick back, so I'm sure it's SJ that wants Labanc included in this rumored trade.

Rumour
Hey.....LOL.....don't shoot the messenger.....it's just a rumour based post. IMO Vancouver leaves a lot of "meat" on the bone with both trades. Columbus gets a lot of value for an expendable 3rd pairing guy and SJ gets a ton of value out of their trade as well. Vancouver gets very short term cap relief. From a simple value perspective they significantly overpay.

Garland is almost certainly gone, just not in a trade like this. Vancouver will want at least a 2nd coming back, if not more. Chicago wants this trade at least as much as Vancouver does.

The Allvin Special
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Drshnuckels91</b></div><div>No Gm is absolutely perfect. Also it seems like the Islanders are gonna make the playoffs so that pick can be anywhere from 17-28 if they make a run which isn't out of the ordinary for them. I feel like nucks fans don't understand that Petey, Demko and Hughes probably aren't gonna resign if this team goes full rebuild over the next 2-3 years. All 3 are entering their primes and don't wanna be part of a sinking ship. Hronek is still young and helps presently and long-term. You still got a shot for bedard or even a guy like Sandin-Pekka with that other 1st. He's done a good job</div></div>
Petey, Demko and Hughes will eventually want out when they realize they have no shot at a cup either. Building a contender doesn't have to be a scorched earth process, but it does require patience and discipline, something the Canucks have very much lacked.

That Horvat trade is an absolute fleece, got fair value out of Schenn and the Hronek one doesn't seem terrible. This canucks team isn't in a position to absolutely rebuild all they can do is acquire young players to help rn.</div></div>
Alvin and Rutherford are just continuing what Benning was doing albeit in a more intelligent manner- and that is not hard to do. The unending quest for a playoff spot continues ad nauseum for a franchise that is poorly positioned to do so. The Canucks don't need a rebuild so much as a "smart" build and that clearly is off the table too. Trading a 1st and high second in a very deep draft for a non dynamic 2nd pairing RD is emphatically NOT smart. Premium assets for a distinctly not premium player is just foolish.

Alvins regrettable offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheRevanchist17</b></div><div>No way the Canucks EVER do something like that Florida deal, that is absolutely terrible for them. No chance we move our 1st which will probably be Top 10 unless we're getting a total superstar in return. I get that Montour has had a great season but VAN already has Hughes, Hronek & OEL who are offensive minded PP specialists. There's no spot for him on this roster. That Hronek trade was great for us, we sold high on the Islanders 1st since they're making the playoffs, and that trade only happened bcuz we had 2 1sts. I'm sorry but unless Ekblad is part of the return we are NOT trading our 1st to FLA!</div></div>
The Canucks 1st will be out of the top 10 and is eminently tradeable. OEL is offensive, but not in the way you are inferring. He is the player that has no place on the Canucks roster if they have any aspirations on a playoff spot. Guess what?? They apparently do.....
