Why would the Canucks do that CBJ trade? They could just sign Gudas for cheaper or bring back Schenn. Both are probably better than Peeke.

Jackets aren't interested in Boeser an aren't looking to add any wings.

I genuinely don't know why people don't like Alvin. That Horvat trade is an absolute fleece, got fair value out of Schenn and the Hronek one doesn't seem terrible. This canucks team isn't in a position to absolutely rebuild all they can do is acquire young players to help rn.

If it was Peeke + pick for Boeser + Rathbone + later pick I think the Canucks would do it.

I think the main reason is not trading Miller and flipping the 1st we got in the Horvat trade

No Gm is absolutely perfect. Also it seems like the Islanders are gonna make the playoffs so that pick can be anywhere from 17-28 if they make a run which isn't out of the ordinary for them. I feel like nucks fans don't understand that Petey, Demko and Hughes probably aren't gonna resign if this team goes full rebuild over the next 2-3 years. All 3 are entering their primes and don't wanna be part of a sinking ship. Hronek is still young and helps presently and long-term. You still got a shot for bedard or even a guy like Sandin-Pekka with that other 1st. He's done a good job

Yeah with how the Isles have been playing the Hronek trade doesn’t look as bad, I just hate that we gave up an early 2nd as well. Hoping we can recoup that by moving Boeser or Garland in the offseason

Moving Myers to the Hawks takes the '25 2nd rounder, not a 4th.

Alvin and Rutherford are just continuing what Benning was doing albeit in a more intelligent manner- and that is not hard to do. The unending quest for a playoff spot continues ad nauseum for a franchise that is poorly positioned to do so. The Canucks don't need a rebuild so much as a "smart" build and that clearly is off the table too. Trading a 1st and high second in a very deep draft for a non dynamic 2nd pairing RD is emphatically NOT smart. Premium assets for a distinctly not premium player is just foolish.

Petey, Demko and Hughes will eventually want out when they realize they have no shot at a cup either. Building a contender doesn't have to be a scorched earth process, but it does require patience and discipline, something the Canucks have very much lacked.
