Miller Via Arizona

JT Miller isn’t even a rental and he’s at a PPG the last few years. Ain’t no way he’s not returning a B+ prospect , a young top 9F and a 1st round pick at the very least</div></div>
I tried to address the value in my description. I don’t think a 1st and 3rd is proper value. I just didn’t want to debate about perceived values with biased fans (myself included). Was more focused on getting Miller at half price.

Miller Via Arizona Part Deux
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>Im quite certain it was reported that Vegas looked for a middle man and everyone (namely Arizona) refused.</div></div>
As I reported recently, the Coyotes tried hard to get in on the Jack Eichel deal as a third-party broker willing to rent out cap space, but in the end, Vegas and Buffalo were able to strike a deal without Arizona needing to be involved.
In any case, the Coyotes will hope to use that cap space again ahead of the trade deadline and the draft.
“We’ve obviously tried to be very creative in trying to generate picks and we’re going to continue to do that all the way through,’’ Armstrong said. “That’s something we haven’t been shy about, trying to acquire picks and cap space because the flat cap has been at a premium. So, we’ve always tried to use that to our advantage and will continue to do so.’’
From his interview with Armstrong last week

Fiala for Miller
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TanSor</b></div><div>Fiala (and probably Greenway) is likely on his way out this offseason anyways. Even as a winger Miller is at worst as good as Fiala so while I have my own doubts about his ability to play center this is still an upgrade and makes us a better team. I think Guerin learned that Greenway is a replaceable player when he was injured.</div></div>
I agree Fiala and Greenway are both probably on their way out this summer. WAIT UNTIL THEN. Add Miller in season for futures.

The lineup is a lot scarier if you add without subtracting. You can recoup the picks when you move Fiala and Greenway this summer.

Thread:
Fiala for Miller
I like the thought of adding Miller, but moving out Fiala to do so seems counterproductive. By mid January Minnesota will have enough accrued cap space to add Miller’s salary. At that point, if they still consider themselves “contenders” then trade picks/prospects to add Miller without subtracting from the current roster. Make a legitimate run at a Cup this spring. Move Fiala and Greenway in the summer to recoup the picks.

If Coyle does not step up
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KennyBoi</b></div><div>Not true, nmc protects the player from trades and waivers. The player must give consent before being moved.</div></div>
A NMC does protect a player from being traded UNLESS there’s a M-NTC added to it. At that point, it more or less becomes protection from waivers and expansion drafts.

He can be traded, without his consent, to a team not on his list. The NMC gives him protection against being placed on waivers.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>I wouldn't trade Vilardi for Fiala 1-for-1.</div></div>
Nor would I. That’s why I added a guy who was rumored as a possible buyout candidate and an easily replaced fourth line grinder. With the addition of Danault to their lineup, the Kings can afford to move Vilardi. If the additional 1st seems rich, so be it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Blues pass. Maybe with Tank and the pick, but Bolduc makes it too much.</div></div>
That’s fair. In my original draft I had Vlad, Bolduc and a possible conditional pick based on players’ production. Decided to go with the 1st because Vlad’s value seems to be minuscule and the 1st would be late in the round.

Minnesota Wild signed Alex Goligoski (1 Year / $5,000,000 AAV)
Anyone thinking this is a bad deal needs to know that Russo is reporting that the plan is to sign him to an extension on January 1st for a much lower cap hit.
Wild overpay for this year and get him cheap next year when the buyout squeeze really kicks in.

He was a 3rd pairing D behind Suter and Brodin. He’d be top 4 on a lot of teams including the Flyers.

Yeah. Who wants a guy who is 6’5, physical, a plus skater and actually plays good defense? Go ahead and put Ghost or Braun or Hägg there. I’m sure it will work out better this year.
And yes, I know York and Zamula are in the mix, but they should be LV this year.

Yes. In 19-20 he slid over and played 2nd pairing with Brodin when Dumba went down. This season he played the right side often with Ian Cole on the third pairing. He’d be the perfect replacement for Myers.

I can. It doesn’t look like Seattle has gone for anything more than bottom six forwards so far. I could see a JVR (with a little retained salary) and a 2nd for Soucy.
Twarynski being the selection alone makes no sense. Why not take Rubtsov? At least there’s a glimmer of upside there.

Just because he’s the official selection doesn’t mean there isn’t a side deal in place. I would be surprised if Fletcher doesn’t make/have a deal to acquire Carson Soucy.

It’s not that I don’t want Fiala. Essentially, these moves would be like trading Fiala for Landeskog, Holloway and a 1st.
Yes Fiala can be game-breaker, but in return they get a skilled, top line wing who plays a heavy game, takes face offs, and would be a huge influence on the youngsters coming up. In addition, they also get another high end C prospect and the 1st. The Wild are going to need as many high end prospects as they can get for years 2-4 of the buyouts.

It’s not about moving Rask’s cap hit. It’s about needing Soucy, and his very reasonable pricetag, in the top 4 for the next couple years while (hopefully) O’Rourke and Hunt develop.

Can’t speak to the Byfuglien situation, but L.A. had some recapture penalties after the Richards contract was mutually terminated a few years ago.
