new look
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CN10</b></div><div>I believe "looking outside the organization" meant a UFA signing for 1 year < $1M, not sending out two assets for a guy (Daley) worse than the internal option they already have (<a href="https://public.tableau.com/shared/DGHKHP2RS?:display_count=yes&:origin=viz_share_link" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Daley v. Gio - Brodie
Hanifin - Hamonic
Kylington - Andersson
Davidson - Yelesin
Valiev</div></div>
Agree it’s unlikely but veteran depth would be nice for playoffs. Would love to see them past the first round. But a good option to wait until trade deadline.

Small Calgary Trade
Pass cuz the flames are pretty stocked with good young D men, and Janko has become a valuable penalty killer with some decent offensive upside.

Post Milan
I see where you are going here and agree its probably what will happen. Personally, I would rather see us move Brodie and keep Stone as he is much harder to play against (when healthy).
The big mistake I see and have been saying for a while is keeping the 3 m line together...
- Tkachuk is 100% a top 6 player (wouldn't mind seeing him on the top line while johnny gets sheltered on the 2nd).
- BUT when Backs is on the 2nd with PP time his numbers drop significantly! He is probably one of the leagues best 2-way 3rd line centres and an incredibly effective PK specialist but when moved up he loses a step and ends up as a mediocre 2nd line centre.
- Then Frolik... When paired with Backs on the 3rd line and given PK time he excels! But on the 2nd line, he becomes a below-average winger...
Move Backs and Frolik back where they belong and build a real second line starting with Tkachuk or maybe even Johnny!
The key here is to be playoff-ready! To get into the second round and beyond! We will not make it with the 3 m line as our 2nd line...

Seems like a popular move
In Edmonton. Calgary doesn't touch this. It started with Duhatschek who mused, didn't link it to an actual rumour, and Stauffer whose been saying Lucic is getting traded tomorrow for 2.5 years running.
Also, Sam's arbitration comparibles see him closer to 3M AAV

Whats Puljujarvis value
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CN10</b></div><div>I disagree. He just played a prominent role on the Calder cup winning team. </div></div>
Sure he did. But IMO all 3 of the Oilers AHL LD are better and/or have a higher ceiling, I wouldn't take away their playing time for Fleury. Just going off boxcars:
Caleb Jones, AHL: 50, 6-23-29 +16
Lagesson, AHL: 67, 8-19-27 +25
Samorukov, OHL: 59, 10-35-45 +36 and beastmode in the playoffs: 24, 10-18-28 +18
Fleury, AHL: 28, 2-8-10 +0 and in the playoffs: 11, 2-4-6 +7
Fleury is a 2014 draft pick same as Lagesson, yet putting up worse numbers in the AHL. Jones is a year younger (2015) while Samorukov is 3 years younger (2017). I find it doubtful that Fleury takes ice-time away from any of these guys. Unless one of them gets called up to the NHL or traded, there's no room in the Oilers AHL organization for Haydn Fleury.

Meier offersheet
That's 2m more than any offer sheet I've seen for Meier and 3m more than he should get.

What Would An Ehlers To Calgary Trade Look Like
Jets would be all over that. Ehlers is not worth that much. Young 25 goal per year winger is awesome, but not worth 4 good pieces
Take out at least 2 pieces on the flames side. Maybe Brodie and a 2nd round pick ?

This is an overpay. Ehlers had 8 more points than Sam Bennett

What Did It Cost - Everything
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CN10</b></div><div>So Murray won't be a fit with Weber on the top pair? I see Montreal moving a top 6 forward who the organization was unhappy with to end the year and which will soon be replaceable by the forward prospects coming up for a #2/3D and a young backup goalie. Columbus may need to sweeten the deal with a 2020/2021 mid round pick but I think it seems fair and addresses both team needs.</div></div>
In terms of value Murray for Drouin is not a bad starting point for a trade. Habs would likely be a better team overall if Murray was reasonably healthy for a few years.
The problem is that Drouin acquisition from Tampa was so high profile for Marc Bergevin, that he'd have to be perceived to hit a home run in a Drouin trade at this point (someone like Ghost from the Flyers). Getting Murray would look more like a solid double, not the home run.
For better or worse, Drouin likely gets a longer leash in Montreal, and in a couple of years is finally let go at lower trade value.

If the cap is 82M
Neal is a good bounce back candidate. A little patience could save Treliving paying a 1st rounder to move his contract.

Both Neal and Bennett have suffered from the same malady - having Janko as their centreman. We need to upgrade that position and Neal can bounce back!

Tougher and Trading Up
Frolik is worth more than that. Also, why include Backlund in the Brodie deal? That's really bad for the Flames. Erasing 2/3 of the 3M line likely means the Flames miss the playoffs.
