Patty Kane to Big D
There are many factors that make this trade ridiculous. Though Kane is a game changing talent, he isn’t young enough nor healthy enough to warrant this ask. The requirement would be an extension, true, but the term is too much. If you look at trade history, I’d put Kane at the Spezza trade level. A cost conscious active player, one projected A player, a B prospect, and a pick (possibly a second rounder). For the Spezza trade Nill stated that Nick Paul was the prize. Ottawa said that they were fleeced, but Paul developed into a damn good player. I think that for the Stars to make an impact on their roster, the add would be something like Kane. The question is if it is worth the cost. Chicago fans probably won’t be happy about the trade regardless. I don’t blame them. His image and what he has been to the franchise is unmeasurable. But this isn’t about what he has been, this is about who he is going to be to the Stars. Since this is the TDL, it does garnish additional Worth if the options are limited on if he will waive. Wither it be NYR, VGK, DAL, or another team, he will have a chance to continue his career on a good team that wants to extend him. The pucks on his stick, it’s his choice on what he will do with it.

The more I think about it, Dobby at 50% retention could give us an extra pick in 23 and save us a little money. I don’t know who would be a buyer though. That extra cap room could let you carry an extra player to scratch.

There might be a market for a proven playoff backup at 50% retention. Dallas could retain on a trade, save capspace, and gain a pick. He doesn’t have to be seen as a cap dump.

I wouldn’t want to trade Stankoven. Guri is a wild card here with Dobby for cap reasons. I would offer Harley and if necessary Stranges. Harley has a high enough ceiling to pull this with a 1st added. Stranges is an elite skater who could possibly grow into something better. I would question adding in Faksa to swap for Bjugstad.

Dobby could be flipped at 50% retention for a pick.
Dallas throws in Stranges or Damiani.

I think that Dallas needs a little more help in the top six. Though this is an improvement, I don’t think it would be a big enough move. Look at how close the wins and losses have been. Dallas needs a high caliber player for a deep run in the playoffs who has the ability to offset the close game losses.
The question is “What is Dallas willing to part with?” as well as “what would be the cost for the talent needed?”
I could see Dallas moving Guri without a doubt.
I think a team could retain 50% on a Dobby 3-way trade.
Faksa could also move if depth could replace him.
I expect a decent trade from Dallas within the next few weeks.

As a Stars fan, I don’t want to trade Bourque.
Garland would be a quality add though.
I think that if you trade out Boeser for the right player, you could have a decent team next year.
I think the contracts of OEL, Hughes, and Myers is really taxing on your budget. Moving Myers at 50% retention could benefit you long term.

I have to agree here. I’m thinking Guri, Dobby, and our 2024 2nd for Kane (50% retention).
I could see Chicago flipping Dobby with 50% retention. At least they would get a little more value.

Overpay for Chychrun. I get that someone will overpay, but Dallas should hold on to Stankoven. Wyatt and Logan could develop into a stable second line threat.

For my view on the EK trade… salary on the defensive side is typically something like 8m player 1, 6m player 2, 4m player 3, and kind of tapers. Dallas has Miro at the player 1 level. I don’t think it would be financially wise to add EK, even though he is an amazing player. I would trade EK to a team that could afford him as a player 1.

not too serious
I’ve tossed around the idea that Ryan Suter’s NMC was just so that he wasn’t sent to the minors or waived. I think that he would be open to a trade if the right team called. If you threw in retention from a second team, you could provide a 20 minute a night D for around 1,85m (which is a steal). This could turn into a solid return.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Phleb2</b></div><div>Stankoven cannot be called up until he finishes his season in the WHL. His season will end in June after the Memorial Cup.
Suter has a NMC so you cannot send him down without his OK. This will never happen. The best you could do with him is to use him as a 7 D and let him eat nachos.</div></div>
I think Stankoven could be used, but if he exceeds the 10 game mark he burns a year from his entry level contract. I could be completely wrong though. He will probably join Dallas next season.
You are right about Suter. Maybe a trade if he’s willing.
I could see Guri and Faksa being traded.
Chicago said that they could take on cap, so there could be an option out there. Trade Suter to another cup team with Chicago eating half. He could still reject it, but it isn’t impossible.
It’s plausible to move Guri and Faksa for a defenseman.
I would rather Harley play in the AHL to be a leader for a playoff run there. It would add to his mental development.

Let’s say Dallas wants to hear place an offer for Domi and Lafferty, what could you work with on a Faksa and Gurianov swap? Dallas will need to move cap out, and Chicago will need a gap between now and the new draftees being ready to play.

Blues Fire Sale
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>justaBoss</b></div><div>Good question. Capwise, our options are limited. Before we make a decision in that regard, we need to make sure we can afford the target, both short and long term.
If we were to slot this winger to the lineup now, it'd had to be someone that fits to a line with Seguin and Marchment. Segs and Mason bring leadership, offensive prowess and some physicality into a line, but they somewhat lack speed. I think the guy we should go after would be someone that has good legs. Konecny works in this regard imo, but PHI will demand a huge cost for him.
We also need to consider the long-term need. Should we target a rental, and then trust Stankoven to fill that hole long term. Or should we pay up a bit more to get a long-term asset? If we think pure rentals, Patrick Kane obviously comes to mind, but Hawks probably don't want to deal him to a division rival. Kuzmenko, if he's available, is an option to consider as well.
Also, is there a potential option in the market that could be had for a reduced price for some reason. Would that save us cost wise and if it does, how much. Guys like Boeser has been in the rumors for a while, and I wonder if guys like Vrana or Mantha are also available at a cheaper price given their reduced roles in their current teams.
Lots of questions need answering. But it's safe to say it'll be nigh on impossible to find one guy who meshes well with all the mentioned criteria</div></div>
With Texas playing well, I don’t think we will want to mess up the chemistry in the A. Mavrik and Stankoven are keeps. I’m thinking our trade chips are Guri, Faksa, and picks. I don’t think we would move Dobby. He helps Texas out, and winning / playoff runs are good mentally for players in the A.
I think Domi could improve the second line for low cost. Konecny is my first choice, but he might be too much. Boeser would cost too much long term, so there would have to be retention. Same thing with Horvat (who we couldn’t afford to extend). AA could add speed at a low cost. Monahan and ROR have been injured (remember Zuc).
I guess imo the most reasonable would be Domi or Boeser with retention (if Faksa and Guri go the other way). OR Horvat with Guri and Faksa going the other way for cost. If we pulled Horvat without losing Logan, Mavrik, or Harley… I would be impressed.

With that haul, we could probably add Guri for a trade with Philly for Konecny. He’s younger with term. In your opinion, who would the Stars pursue at wing?

I would say Guri, Faksa, Mavrik, and 2023 2nd for Konecny. From Philly, I bet they would say that it’s not worth it, but Mavrik (though having a down year due to transitioning to the A) is top 6 potential.
For Stankoven I would need more coming back while shedding, which is the Faksa + Guri move. Stankoven could be NHL ready next season at a cheaper rate than Konecny come playoffs 23-24.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>g0rd0l0c0</b></div><div>Hopefully they or whoever is getting those spots can create enough to counter Benn’s weak spots and give him someone to play with this year instead of (needs help himself) Seguin (inconsistently good) Raffl and (has potential but can’t be the guy and needs to be set up) Gurianov. We’ll see I guess.</div></div>
Imagine playing on a line with Benn. He’s still a good player. He has a strong character that could help a younger player. His cap hit hurts compared to his production, but he could teach Wyatt, Ty, Mavrik, or Logan a few things.
