I fix Vancouver

Created by: CakeEaterBanks
Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 14, 2023
Published: Jan. 14, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Far weaker team in Vancouver but cap is cleared up. A lot of moves that fans wouldn’t like but that’s the reality we are in. Team will try to take advantage of their salary cap issues. They’ll have over 48 million when Peterson contract is up.

Most of the team are playoff teams or teams wanting to make the dance. Most of em trade their anchor contracts for useful players, for example Myers should pair with Sanderson well making Zub and Chabot the 1st pair.

Minny trading Greenway who’s struggled this season for Boeser who’s perennial 20 goal player that has potential to be 30 goal guy.

NYI gets miller whom they were intrested in at the draft last year. Gives NYI a great 1-2 punch down the middle with Barzal and Miller. Furthermore Millers antics won’t be tolerated by Lou.

LAK gets Schenn and Kuzmenko who’s been great this season. Schenn will replaced the void Roy leaves in the lineup and Kuzmenko brings scoring for a cheap cost.

It’s a meh team but it gives the Canucks a direction. They restock on draft picks, get players that fills needs and prospects to help the pool.

We have 13 forwards on the roster now plus a second-liner (Moore) and third-liner (Kaliyev) on the injury list, so UFA Kuzmenko isn't the thrill to us that you hope he would be, especially at the cost of Matt Roy OR our second first-round pick in a row, this one coming when there will be some great LhD prospects available in the first two rounds. And if by chance we WERE to trade Matt Roy, Sean Durzi, Sean Walker and Jordan Spence would be ahead of Luke Schenn at RhD. So Los Angeles declines.

I bet that the Rangers would be interested in that package for the Dallas first, though.

I think that the whole point of Ottawa paying a second to dump Zaitsev is to cut cap, not increase it.

Even if you take the 2nd round pick out of the Ottawa trade… the Senators still don’t make it.

what if we retained 1-1.5m?

cap equalizes next year, but then they get the better player and the shorter term. I believe OTT was exploring RDs and Myers would fill the hole.

Despite him having low to no trade value right now, Detroit wouldn't pay to move Vrana. All things considered Vrana > Garland. I think if you took the 2nd away Yzerman might have a look, but he's a patient dude. He'd sooner bury Vrana in the minors and ride his contract out to FA before giving up a 2nd and taking on a 4-year deal. Garland is a fiesty dude though...he could be a good add if we lose Bertuzzi. Not having the best year though. Might not crack Detroit's Top 6.

Considering miller wouldn’t be one of NYIs top 2 Cs not sure how this helps. Also NYI was interested in him before he signed that mammoth of a contract that looks buyout bound before it’s even started. His antics this year certainly haven’t made him a more appealing player. Not really sure how this trade benefits NYI at all.

I agree absolutely no reason to sell Vrana low and there is no way Garland is a 2nd rd better than Vrana.

I wouldn’t trade Bailey for Miller one for one just because of how bad that contract is.

Miller isn’t a good center and isles wouldn’t touch that contract.

Brock Nelson is better than Miller and he makes 6 mill for the next 3 seasons.

Just to add, Pagaeau doesn't waive, and the no team wants Miller's never ending contract, without big retention.

As a Dallas fan, I wouldn’t want to give up so much for a rental. IMO, Kuzmenko would be a better fit. Maybe the LA trade would work better for Dallas.

lol dude is still awesome on the wing he would absolutely be their best winger and make their PP much better than bottom 10 it is now. There is a need there thats why there was rumblings at the draft floor last year. His whole issue this year is he hasnt worked as a C. Both counting and underlying stats this season when hes on the wing are great.

The problem for Ottawa now (and I can’t believe I’m even saying this after the last few years) is that they are in a place where cap numbers are more important than actual dollars.

My guess is they would be more likely to give you the 2nd round pick and just not take back Meyers at all… which I know, is not at all what you are hoping for from a Vancouver perspective.

So I’m just not sure there is a match with these players and teams.

Great so you addressed the least important of the 3 concerns now how about the other 2?
