Stastny is a #2 40-45 points C. The only good thing is that he's signed for only 2 years so he's easily traded with retention for pick.

Montreal complete overhaul
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Manfred</b></div><div>Lucic, Sekera, Weise, Elliot bad contracts while taking Mtl best players away.... LMAO!!!!! None of those trades make sense.</div></div>
Montreal adds 2 D prospects, a potential #1C, 3 decent 1st round picks, 2nd and 3rd round pick. Lehtera and Elliot can be traded next year at the deadline for picks, Weise in 2 years for picks. With the NHL expansion to Seattle in 2 years, the most will most likely go up and Lucic or/and Sekeras can be retained and easily traded for picks as well.
What Montreal needs to do is tank, accumulated draft picks and rebuild. Price, Weber and Pacioretty aren't needed in Montreal at this point.
Bergevin screwed the cup window when he traded Subban. Time to move on!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>I don't think that makes sense for Ottawa or Montreal. It'd move Ryan which is nice but then we're still stuck with a bad contract but for longer AND we lose a promising Centre prospect and a third. meanwhile, Montreal is currently in a position where they can afford to retain a significant portion of that salary and still be fine. what they should do is retain like 1.5-2 million, find a team like Arizona who will also retain 1.5-2 million in exchange for assets, and get some real value for Weber.</div></div>
I dont know if i would want to retain 2mil for 8 more years of Shea Weber. 80 millions of Weber 110 millions contract is already paid. I think Weber could replace Karlsson in some ways for another 3 to 4 years and mentor the young dmen and then get traded back to Nashville who will get penalized for the cap recapture for assests.
Montreal is taking a winger that is a injury prone 30-35 points player making 7.25mil.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Truebeliever</b></div><div>If lottery picks are the goal, best line up 3 per year and aim to suck that long. Embrace the big suck years, but have a plan. Part of that is getting rid of the horror show coaching in Laval. Molson needs to find a GM who likes his players more than he likes his tailor. And then spend to the cap on 1-2 year contracts for aging vets who still want to put on a show (like the Vegas gang).</div></div>
Lottery pick is the only way to go. Like you said, the team in Laval made the playoffs once in the last, what 5 years?, and it was due to a change in the playoffs format. We have one of the worst, if not the worst prospects pool in the league.
The core is aging, the team is soft, small, lacks skills and talents. The team needs 2 top 2 centermen, 2 top 2 dmen.
It is a mess created in part by Bergevin but its also a result of this organization lack of vision and planning. We need to stop with the " when you are in the playoffs anything can happen" mentality.

Byron, Shaw, Petry, Gallagher can be traded within the next 2 years for picks in 2020. But right now Price, Weber and Pacioretty need to be traded to help us get lottery picks for the next 3 seasons at least.

McNabb jumps right in in the left side with Petry. Brännström is a 2017 1st round pick with high potential. Two 2nds isnt nothing.
There are only a very limited amount of teams capable of taking Price contract. Bellows, a very good 2nd and a 1st is enough for Price. Montreal isn't getting top value for Price and Price is not helping with the tank and rebuild.
McNabb and Ladd will help guide the youngsters.

Weber is getting wasted in Montreal. He needs to be traded for a necessary rebuild.
The Habs can trade MacDonald anytime in the next 3 years and Lehtera at the deadline for picks.
Unfortunately Montreal wont get the same value for Weber than when he was traded for Subban. Bergevin fucked this one up.

So many awful Weber trades do not ever considerate any team cap. But in the Isles deal, you've increased the cap hit of Isles of 5.7m in the goalies position and the Isles in effect lose three first rounders.. Wonder how the cap works for the Isles. Before this season, Price has played 10 seasons for the Canadian and won 3 playoff rounds. So to think Price is going to lead the Isles to mediocrity , especially at this stage of his career, is really a stretch. Even with Price, the Canadians have been just a middling team And if he so much of a difference maker, why don't the Habs keep him?</div></div>
I understand what you are saying and i modified the trade.

I'd like to see which team will give 1st round pick and potentiality legit top line forwards and top pairing dmen, plus roster players for a damage 31 years old goalie with 8 years left at 10.5mil.

31 years old Price with his 8 lower body injuries and 2 concussions signed 8 more years at 10.5mil is not fetching much.
One footed 33 years old Shea Weber isn't getting you much either at 9 more years close to 8mil.
Pacioretty as been called out by 2 coaches, disappears in the playoffs wont get you a top line forward.
The MONTREAL Canadiens is a terribly build team with a serious lack of skills, talent and hockey IQ thanks for the ******* idiot Marc Bergevin is. The fan base needs to deal with it and rebuild.

This trade is for a Islanders cup run and Montreal rebuild.
Montreal doesn't necessarily needs a top C in return. Montreal will collect 1st round picks and tank to draft a top C. I am expecting Montreal to tank and rebuild for at least 3 years.
Islanders get serious help on defense and goaltending without touching their roster and just drafted twice in the 1st round and 2nd round in 2018.

If the cap goes up to $80,000,000 next season, the Oilers would have $16,000,000 to fill out their roster and that is to sign/find 10 players. Most importantly, two top 6 LW, and a bottom 6 LW. Two bottom 6 centres a bottom 6 RW and a defenseman.
It just won't work.
This isn't even taking in Russell getting traded.</div></div>
If Oilers do things right, they will get young assets from the Maroon, Letestu and Cammalleri trade that might insert in the lineup next year. Yamamoto and Carr are added to the team. How much do you think Nurse will sign for? I doubt its over 5mil. Oilers should have 15 mil to sign 10 players if Lucic gets traded.
