I wanted Garland too for the Sabres and after hearing this I was sketchy too. Adams wants team players that want to be here. I believe I heard it from Jeremy Roenick on something. He is close to Arizona people and players and he was the one that said Garland is a me player very selfish and all about himself.</div></div>
I really like Jeremy Roenick, he was one of my favourite Blackhawks players in the 90s but I find this funny as he was a very "ME" guy. . Which was one of things I also liked about him, great player with an attitude. I think Garland may have referenced JR once in modelling his game to JRs. I haven't heard this about Garland from anyone, his teammates have said the opposite. Since JR is connected to the coyotes from his playing days he may have said that as Garland did have a poor relationship with management near the end due to contract negotiation. Garland felt he was being low balled by the coyotes. Again funny since JF threatened his teams with not playing if he didn't get his price.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>Hawks decline. #19 and #44 might get moved for #13. No chance Hawks trade a '24 2nd for Olafsson. They'll have better options in free agency without giving up that pick.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>And Tampa definitely declines. Cernak is a key guy on their blue line just starting a new deal.</div></div>
Sure CHI could possibly get a better player during FA but how much money and for how long? Olafson isn't a bad player he'd put up over 40 points for CHI and since its his last year at the Tdl with a bit of retention he could be moved for a better return than that '24 Canucks 2nd round pick. Why not gain more assets and sign a UFA. This yrs UFA class isn't anything special.
Tampa won't move Cernak but I'm hoping Colton Ross and Tanner Jeannot ask for the moon. Who knows maybe there is a player at their original 19oa pick they like and feel could step in right away and wouldn't mind moving Cernak for said package.

Chi will have options of players to trade for that's for sure and good players at that. Olafson is a good point producer, if played with Bedard he could put up big numbers where I think Davidson wouldn't mind having him for the half year as he'd be getting better pick(s) at Tdl for him. Could be worth it??

Could work. Olafson most likely would be dealt at tdl for hopefully more draft picks for CHI, with retention even better return

VAN - CHI
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RicXX</b></div><div>VAN is in no position to make demands, they have to pay to comply with the Cap. They did it to themselves, and it's a sucky situation, especially for the fans. Boeser is the compensation for taking Myers, you are getting Blackwell, 19OA and a 3rd for 11th OA.</div></div>
Vancouver will be cap compliant they don't need to move Boeser or Myers. Myers could be moved for a lot less once his bonus is paid and is only owed a mil for the year on 6 mil cap hit. Teams that need to get to the floor and don't want to spend actual money will get him for future considerations. Boeser is a good player and is NOT a throw in. Chicago is desperate to get another top 12 pick in this year's draft and no one wants to move down from a top 12 pick to 19 this year. The difference player quality from 11 to 19 is massive this year. Chicago is in no position to demand a top 12 pick and a player on a 1 yr contact to help them reach the cap floor. They will have to over pay players to get to the cap floor maybe even have to over players on a several year contract which could hamper them down the road.

VAN - CHI
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RicXX</b></div><div>Thing is take the players out and it's the 19oa and a high 3rd, maybe low second to move up to 11th. So taking the huge cap and real cash would probably make it even less. Look at the Dickinson trade. Chi can get cap nearly anywhere, if it's too rich for VAN then they can pay the cap overage fee, which will be much much more...</div></div>
To move up from 19 to 11 in typical year is a mid 2nd at least. In this year a stacked year to go from 19 a good player to 11 a premium player is more than a mid 2nd.

This is bad for Vancouver, Boeser isn't a cap dump no matter how much you all wanna believe the propaganda. Myers is easier moved and will cost less, if anything by waiting 5 days after the draft when his bonus is paid out and some of the UFA D are gone.
To move back from a premium player at 11oa to pick a good player at 19oa will cost Chicago more than Ottawa 2nd. That in of itself is the usual trade value, of an average draft, to move from 19 to 11

Weaponize cap space
Canucks decline, to move from 19 to 11 is a 2nd round pick on its own. Garland isn't a cap dump like most have been manipulated to believe he is. Garland is a top 6 on most teams.
At 11 you get a premium player unlike at 19 especially at this draft so that alone will cost more than the usual 2nd round pick to move up. Don't believe everything that is written on the Athletic, that's all click bait garbage

I'd like to see that happen but it won't. Chi won't get much with 50% retained maybe a 2nd and someone like Jake Leschyshyn. The 3rd team to retain 25% will get nyr 5th next yr.

If Jarvis or Mercer where offered there isn't much on top of that if at all. Those players won't be moving. Imo this offer for Meier is too much but Buffalo can afford it if they so choose to. don't see any team trying to beat this, These moves definitely put Buffalo on the next level.
