Isles don't have the need/intentions to move Pulock and break up one of the most dominant pairings in the NHL. It would have to be an insane package

LOL. Demko is not available, and if he was that would be a super lowball offer. Schenn for Dermott is not happening either.

That Canucks trade is hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣 do you actually think all it would take to pry a young franchise goaltender on an extremely affordable contract from another team is a streaky winger who’s gonna walk in two years???

Why would Vancouver do this? Demko's their goalie of the future.

Oilers are not remotely interested in either of those.
Ceci has arguably been our most consistent and steady dman all season. The fact that you’re adding a pick alongside him to downgrade to Braun makes me think you haven’t watched an oilers game all season.
Allen is not better than anything we have now. Lehkonen is good but the oilers don’t need depth rentals. Let along the fact you have us moving a 1st and Bourgault. Value is horrible for the oilers

Start of Next Season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rooney</b></div><div>Okay, I can agree with you there for sure, value would be quite low right now. If there is not fair deal, the Ducks should obviously hold onto him in hopes he can bounce back and if not, like you said maybe next year would make more sense to move him.</div></div>
If we havent traded guys like Steel, Jones, Mahura, Larsson, etc after disappointing healthy seasons, I dont understand the logic in trading Comtois after a bad half a season that he had major wrist surgery in.
Trading him for a second, or a package like the one here doesnt accomplish anything positive for us.
and for what its worth Dallas Eakins line-up decisions are some of the worst I've seen in 20+ years of watching hockey, for example Derek Grant regularly gets more ice time than 80% of our forwards
Not fully excusing Comers regression but there are some factors that are out of his control at play here

Wouldn’t rule out smith finds his groove again and puts up a solid month or two but it’s not all bad woodcroft is more likely to start leaning more on skinner which so far I’d consider to be the best option. He’s been the best goalie in the ahl under woodcroft.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lenny7</b></div><div>That should fix the lack of secondary scoring, pourous defence and questionable goaltending!
Man, Ken Holland really set you guys up for failure. The team *should* be better, but the issues this year are the same as they've been...I'd be pretty frustrated if I were an Oilers fan.
That being said, it's pretty clear that Tippett had lost the room, so change isn't a bad thing.</div></div>
I don’t think Holland has done anything wrong can look at not addressing goaltending last offseason but at the same time look at the season mike smith just finished posting. He did do a lot of good such as Hyman getting nuge signed long term for less than he was making. Nurse locked up long term granted think he rushed that signing and coulda gotten a better number on that contract if waited but it’s done. Most of the moves he’s made that haven’t worked are short term cheaper deals for depth. I think it’s a far better roster than we have been seeing pretty much all year. Nice part about woody leading the charge now is he knows the youth better than anyone and has gotten a lot of out them which Tippett for the most part wouldn’t trust leaning on.

Chiarot is a winner

I'm saying that Gallagher would be a bad addition for free. As your fellow Oiler adherent <a href="/users/Cbzblaze" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@Cbzblaze</a> says, his cap hit would preclude much more beneficial moves, plus there's the cost of acquiring him and the $34 million cost in real money over the next five years. Trading away your best shot at an ELC top-6 forward for Gallagher would be just about the worst move I can imagine Edmonton making. But be my guest -- you guys are my two crummy local teams' direct competitor!

Not only does it cost the oilers a fortune but it causes the same problem had for most of the year the d becomes much softer without Niemelianen in the line up While chychrun is a really good player doesn’t address that need.

As much as I’d love to have Gallagher, the one untouchable Oiler prospect might be Holloway.
As for Allen this is nothing more than a lateral move, it doesn’t solve the Oilers problems.
Also, Oilers have no cap space so no retention equals no trade.
Oilers decline.

Scheifele as a top 5 player in the league? Off the top of my head: McDavid, Matthews, MacKinnon, Draisaitl, Crosby, Kucherov, Point, Barkov are all centers that are easily better than him. Adding in top defensemen (Makar, Hedman, Fox, etc) and wingers (Panarin, Kaprisov, Pasta, Rantanen, etc) and there are like 20 skaters I would take over Scheifele.

CBJ and Edmonton
Edmonton's potential achilleas heel is on the defensive side of the puck. This is giving away a ton of depth at their weakest position to shore up their forwards which is already their strength. Take into account too that Bouchard is penciled into the line-up with no real NHL quality RHD depth behind him.
