Oh okay - it’s because they’re not good at playing at the NHL level. They’re a big part of why the pens weren’t good this year.
A vezina caliber goalie with 2x5 left on his deal, and an actual good d man, for two inferior d men and a mid round first is highway robbery.

Can you explain to me why Boston is protecting 26 year old fringe NHLer in AJ Greer? And why wouldn’t this expansion team take ullmark or swayman?

1. Smith isn’t going anywhere. 2, Joseph isn’t going to be traded for a goalie, if he’s traded it’ll be for a young bottom 6 forward. 3, Smith AND Joseph BOTH are not going to be traded. 4, we aren’t moving our 2023 first.</div></div>

Not a huge fan of splitting Bergy/Marchy but if you're able to deploy that Coyle/Marchy line to just keep Tkachuck at bay and Bergy line to matchup with Barkov, that third line is just going to feast against whatever else Florida throws at them.
You know what works, but the Bs are in a position to try some things out right now. I just want Bergy to stay away from Tkachuk whenever possible</div></div>
Bergeron and marchand have been together for over a decade. They aren’t splitting that up.

Can’t imagine they roll with that. Likely just a shake up to get guys comfortable in different positions, and mess with Florida’s game planning a bit.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Victor24</b></div><div>I watch plenty of games. Pit, Van, Col, Car mostly but I try to see everyone play at least a few times a year. I noticed Forbort several times and never in a good way but my sample size was small. So I withheld judgement. Then I saw his stats.
That is true that sometimes players just throw the puck at the net because a good defensive defenseman is blocking their path. To account for that they have a statistic called high danger shots. As I stated before, Forbort is 182nd in high danger shots against. So he is not making guys throw the puck at the net. They are getting quality chances against him.
He is bad. Really bad. I'm sorry you can't see that. And, my man, it is not me looking stupid. I have evidence he is bad, you have "trust me, he's great". Not hard to see who looks like a fool. ;)</div></div>
You’re just missing a wonderful game. Too bad. Maybe baseball is more your speed after all

All of these trades are pathetically short on value. In fact, you could add a first rounder to all of them and the other teams would still decline

how to be competitive with a 4 5M penalty on capspace
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Victor24</b></div><div>Well I did say Yadi. I don't believe there is a Yadi on the Blues. Not 100% my fault as most sports fans in general will know Yadiar Molina played for StL. He is a first ballot HOFer.
We care about baseball because it is a sport with competitive teams, salaried players, and other similarities. My example was of an older player who is still great taking team friendly deals. He retired last year and the Cards are having a rough go.
I don't suspect Boston will fall off a cliff, but it will be a hit when Bergeron retires, similar to the Cardinals.</div></div>
Yadi? Who the hell is yadi?
This is a hockey site.

offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Victor24</b></div><div>Forbort appears to be a fairly competent penalty killer. So he got paid 3MM to be effective 23% of his ice time and be a massive drain on his team 77% of the time. What a deal!
To be a shut down defenseman, you need to shut down teams. He allows among the most shots, possession, and goals in the NHL. He is by no means a shut down anything.
Stats are useful WHEN you don't know who a player is. It allows you to objectively look at a player and see how they compare to their team and the league. If you think otherwise then YOU are missing the point of statistics.
Keep being a Boston homer.</div></div>
You’re missing a wonderful game out there! Get your eyes off the stat sheet and maybe watch a game. It’s pretty fun.
Sometimes strong defensive d men (forbort is one of the best in the league. Ah yes, the Boston homerism. How crazy to think an important piece to the best regular season team in nhl history is good) allow a lot of outside shots. Hell, chara would be on the ice for a ton of shots against in his prime. Teams couldn’t get inside so they threw it on net.
If you rely 100% on stats, you’ll look as stupid as you do now. Don’t be that guy. Try to be better
